Websites that have one picture on a page where you have to click through another nine pages to see it all as opposed to the old way - just having a web page. Nice way to make it look like ten times more people are clicking your website than really are.
  • A few of these have probably been mentioned already.
people who wear full tour de france team kit for a weekend leisure ride. I am of course talking the full works. not just shorts and jersey, but also helmet gloves and shoe covers in matching team colours.
I used to wear a discovery channel team kit, the blue one not the white one. but by that time the discovery channel team was no more. people wearing team sky kits are the biggest culprits. even worse are the people I have seen wearing team sky kit or other TDF team kit on a mountain bike. also wearing one of the GC jerseys when you know full well that you wouldn't ever be able to earn them for real. people riding on the pavement/sidewalk drives me nuts too. also seeing someone on a mountain bike or road bike on the road with no helmet. with the way some drivers act towards cyclists, not wearing a helmet is asking for trouble. if you aren't wearing a helmet then it proves that you don't fully understand the sport and the risks involved and therefore you should not be classed as a cyclist.
what also drives me mad is when you see overweight or unfit riders on an overpriced lightweight road bike, thinking that being on something so light will turn them in to an elite cyclist. or that a light bike will improve performance more than getting fitter and losing weight.

    Oh dear.

Maybe they understand the risks far better than you and choose to exercise their right to choose.

When you use your windscreen washers and the wipers get the screen nice and clear then does one extra wipe that smears it again!

When you realise that what you can just about make out through the salt-smeared windscreen that your undiluted screenwash won't clean 'cos it's frozen solid.... is the rapidly approaching brakelights of the car in front on the motorway who can clearly see even less 'cos he can't see that there isn't anyone else in front of him and has panicked in the glare and slammed his brakes on anyway.
One of about 5 drivers who tried their best to kill me today on the commute, normally it's only a couple.

Cookery books which, inspired by Jamie Oliver, instruct you to "blitz" your food in the food processor.

Just to help them tell the difference, here's a food processor:

And here's the sort of equipment needed to launch blitzkrieg warfare:

Hope that helps anybody in the cookery publishing industry to understand the difference.

When Americans say something "just gotten better" or "just gotten easier".

It got better, it got easier. Why do they make certain words fanciful?

That woman with a Beatles haircut on the AOL advert used to say it.

When you offer an item for sale in a facebook group - supposedly amongst friend - and someone pops up and posts how you can get it cheaper elsewhere. Bit of a c#nts trick in my eyes.

  • The way online news site comments on pro cycling all say that everyone was doping back then. Or they say doping has been in the sport for ever.

Daily Telegraph have another story on some pro cyclist who doped, can't remember his name right now, who's wife took the blame for driving too quickly in ice and hitting 2 cars. She owned up and got off scot free but her hubbie is now getting the $150 fine for going too fast and $200 for not reporting. That is a dull story intended to get pages and pages of comments - more site traffic for advertising revenues. Why not help DT make more money byu posting comments??

BTW in case you hadn't realised the above is to rants. One about posts on news sites about pro cyclists all doping and a second about how it is all a cynical way to get more site traffic.
  • The "Song Title Thread". The OP, Frank the Tank, could not have been clearer about the rules. The title has to link to another title. Not the artist.

There. I've said it now :x

People using 64-Bit Windows when it is slightly slower than 32-Bit (because it has to emulate to run 32-Bit stuff) and it takes up twice the RAM and disk space. Look in Windows x64, it is two copies of Windows running side by side in reality. Look in winsxs, it is ten copies of Windows or something, more probably! Check out the size of that folder - bigger than Windows itself. If you barely use Windows it won't even matter, but this 64-Bit isn't faster, it should be double the speed right? Forget it, its actually, somehow, some way... ever so slightly slower.

Going backwards while believing we are advancing somewhere is something I can only sit back and observe in amazement.

What next, 128-Bit Windows that runs slightly slower than 64-Bit because it has to emulate 64-Bit and 32-Bit? :|

Now they are taking "Gadgets" away from Windows 7 and 8.1 to force you onto Windows 8.1 (where "Apps" work and don't in Windows 7). They just lie and say Gadgets are suddenly a security risk. They can do and say pretty much anything if you think about it. Backdoors 'R' Us.

  • People claiming they're empathetic. I just see that and think they're pathetic at empathy
  • Kevin Pietersen being signed up for TMS during the world cup. Just when you thought you could have a cricket tournament without him he still manages to wheedle his way in somehow, keeps coming back like a bad case of herpes. Please Kev, just p!ss off.

Not sure if being facetious or ironic there. But I agree its "spelled" that way. We are not American. Unless you are, then well done on your ability to read and write.

Nope, I'm British and it's spelt "spelt" in British English. "Spelled" is American English.

I had that a while back after having to get a new monitor. Apparently if you use any text size in your screen resolution settings Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Display other than "Smaller- 100% default" then gadgets will not display (properly/at all). The answer is to faff around with the screen resolution until "Smaller- 100% default" displays ok. It took me about a year to discover this and sort out the ridiculously small font size I was getting in IE at the same time. This just has to be a manifestation of bad coding.

    eBay sending this:
"Top tips for selling your items on eBay"
"Improve your listings to help your items sell"

    EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.

This on an account where every single thing listed for the last three months has sold.

You'd think eBay would have some sort of detection system for that. Like you list ten things and only two or three sell, then they should be sending these messages. Otherwise its just a joke to be selling stuff but being told you need to improve it.

Maybe eBay could "improve" their brains and realize for the first time since 1999 that their users are in fact human beings.
