    I'll be there...6:30 - 7:00

Doesn't leave long to gossip about Rick before he turns up though.

Just have to moan about Iain once Rick arrives.

  • At 6.30 this is scheduled:
“Award winning photographer Ian Atkinson presents a series of portraits which look at the fashion and style of a group of cycling enthusiasts from Leigh on Sea, Essex. The images are presented in triptychs and each is set against the backdrop of the South East Essex countryside. Each triptych is interconnected by a continuous horizon that represents a link between man, machine and road. The images also reference the high levels of individual fashion styling that are associated with the sport and its followers.”

Sounds right up your street FF! Hopefully see everyone shortly.
  • Myself and BigBean are here, at the table next to the beam if you are also here and not sure who is who!

Just about to leave the office.

Keep an eye out in the next 20 mins or so for a short, balding angry guy.

I'm just over there... next to the bar. Behind the lady with the earrings.

I had one of them red bikes but I don't any more. Sad face.

...seems they don't have nachos. Dry roasted peanuts anyone, or are they a bit 'provincial'?

As I couldn't make it, I'm now wondering who tried to get off with who at the BR pro road forum office party...

Think I ate a bad pasty from west cornwall on the train home...

Well that was the trendiest courier cafe I have every been to. At least it was only £4 for a bottle of artisan beer. Trouble was it was £4 for a ham and chicken crocket as well, hence the later pasty.

Forget cycling drug chat, I got some fantastic insider trading info from the gang (only kidding FSA).

I felt a bit like Cancellara in a breakaway of elite rider (mainly Classic specialists) heading towards that corner in the Olympic RR. As they could all beat me in the sprint, I had to go from a long way out, but I overshot the curve ball! Unfortunately my inability to remember the outcome of all significant chipper and non-chipper races from the last 20 years held me back again. So my quoting of Armstrong/Valverde on Corcheval in the 2005 TdF (I was there on the slopes) was soon pulled back by an avalanche of attacks by the others, mainly Chasey quoting great cheats he has followed since he was a baby in his mothers arms.

Basically, Hamilton and Landis came out of the evening well. There was an argument from Beany that Brailsford could be a bit of a Saville, whereby he is a bit of an untouchable hero at the moment, but who knows what history will say about him and his dominating team in the years to come...

So I think the general feeling from Chasey, Timmy, Beany, Frenchy, Moony and myself was that we should not waste too much time trying to work out who are the honest riders: Tennis fans, athletic fans, football fans, rugby fans, horse riding fans etc don't, so why should we beat ourselves up on the matter...

Keep calm and carry on supporting cycling.

  • Thanks Ridgerider, I feel like I was there in person last night... :)
  • Good post RR!

I had a good time yesterday and it was good to catch up with a bunch of you and chat all things cycling. Would have liked to stay and chat a couple more hours but have been in work 3 hours already this morning and have 9 or so to go.

Would be good to ride with a few people from BR. Maybe an organised ride out into Kent with as many of us as we can muster next Spring would be a good idea.

Box Hill's not the only hill in the South East Rick.

    Unless you're just chicken...

More hills the better for me.

How did you all get on? I was intent on coming but had to work late and didn't leave the office until 1930 or so. Felt very bad texting FF to say I was standing you all up :(

We didn't get on.....Rick is a big bully.

But we have all got to stick to the line that we had a great time or else he is going to get us thrown off the forum in his capacity as the Forum Patron.
