So what's everyone doing for nutrition this week? Any hints or tips? Or is it just drink plenty water eat healthy and carb load on Friday and Saturday? Got me thinking today as I fought the urge to wolf a massive bar of chocolate and a mug of coffee
Fri Sat is a bit late for carb loading IMHO.

What do you suggest then ?

I'm new to all this carb loading stuff, however, I have read up a fair bit and almost all reports say 2/3 days before, as any longer has no real benefit.

I started on Monday, but maybe I'm wrong.

Whatever feels right for you is the thing to do. If you've never done one of these before, it's all about trial and error. When I started out I used to take two water bottles, and food for the way round......now I have one bottle and a packet of jelly babies. I don't dehydrate and I don't run out of fuel, I suppose my body has tuned into it and my mind.

Latest weather from the Met Office is looking quite good.

Cool and overcast but dry and 8mph NW wind with no gusts up until mid morning, by which time it will be helping you home.

I've found xcweather to be reasonably reliable (as much as you can be with forecasting our weather)

I'll settle for it being dry. Of course i wish it was warmer and more settled so i dont have to pack half my cycling wardrobe and then agonise on the morning before heading to the start line whether i should risk being too cold, too hot or too wet. Or a combination of all three!

I have a cold :-( Necking echinacea, multi vits, supermax vit C and praying.

On the weather side I can live with the rain, it's the wind that fecks me off. But no wind and no rain would mean fancy bike and wheels time :-)

    I have a cold though :-(

Been in Pitlochry since Monday and Met Office forecast has been spot on so far (at least in terms of when rain starts). They've updated Sunday forecast for gusty WNW from 0700 - should be quick coming back!
  • Rubbish BBC forecast for Rannoch had snow  on Saturday night and max of 3c on Sunday morning

You couldn't make it up.

The BBC probably go out onto the roof of the TV studios in Aberdeen and then just look in whatever direction they think Rannoch might be.

Where as the Met off have a station at the top end of the Loch at Finnart

LOL - I packed the bag last night:

    Lightweight bibs (aye right)
    Thermal bibs
    Waterproof bibs
    Normal arm warmers
    Waterproof arm warmers
    Knee warmers
    Waterproof leg warmers
    LS jersey
    SS waterproof thermal jersey
    Gilet
    Cap
    Wool socks
    Long finer gloves
    Mitts
    Overshoes
    Windproof base layer
    LS merino base layer
    SS merino base layer
    Winter embrocation!!!

In other news - hypocrisy at its best…

As part of the cycling festival this weekend there’s going to be “The Highland Chocolatier Cycle Event - a circular ride of 11 miles with a 'fuel stop' at The Highland Chocolatier - a hot chocolate and one of Iain Burnett's unique chocolate truffles is included in the price.”

Isn’t Mr Burnett the chap who was against the Etape Caledonia?

Sorry to trump you but I have had flu for 3 weeks and I'm doing it.

I might get a 'Marlboro' cycle jersey so I won't have to explain all the coughing and a spittin' that
    I'll be doing on Sunday

One if not the chief protestors against the EC and closed road events. Completely sold out when a Bollywood film crew wanted to close the road and film outside his shop for 2 days. Seems it wasn't an inconvenience when he was getting something out of it. He will never get any of my hard earned cash put it that way.
