    What sort of time gaps?

I really hope J Rod can keep this up.

On the line, Contador lost 8 or so, Valverde around 13, Froome early 20s, Gesink late teens.

Decent recovery from Froome. He was stronger in the last 1.5k than he was in the first .5.

Good little climb. Brilliant finish if you are spectating live.

Bring on the mountains - JRod wont live with Contador's sustained pace and Contador will take stages.

    Joaquim looking very good though.

    Valverde...

I think we have seen that Purito is the strongest sprinter uphill. Lets try something else now, shall we, Vuelta...?

I would not claim thisuntil after stage 14 and stage 5 wehre it will be far clearer. Todays stage was no surprise with that type of finish though it does look like Froome is down a bit on his tdf form.

Gaps are still tiny considering we have 5 big summit finishes still to come in this race. Mad.

He was third in the Combination jersey but the others ahead of him (J-Rod, Valverde) were wearing more important jersies

In a funny way, that may have given Froome's confidence a boost the way he managed to limit his losses when it looked like he'd cracked early on the climb. There's still plenty of time for him to reel in J-Rod, although Contador will be harder. Long way still to go...

so he could wash the one he wore yesterday
  • Just hope that these hill sprints haven't taken everything out of Froome before the real mountain stages kick in. He should be able to eat into J Rod, and then it will come down to how rusty Contador is...

Yeah, definitely. I cant see Froome or Valverde taking time on Contador and you would expect Rodriguez to suffer more than the others in the stages coming up...

Hang on a minute. I thought Froome was the messiah. Is that not the case? Certainly was what I'd been given to understand during the TdF.

Can see him missing out on a podium at this rate.

The only way Contador is going to lose this is if his legs fall off in week 3.
