I'm obviously missing something as Harmon and Kelly seem to think he's a key domestique - guess I'll have to look more closely in his next race.

Harmon has always had it in his head that Zandio (probably due to the Spanish name) is an excellent climber. He isn't. He's probably a similar level to Flecha.

Yeah, Harmon was over-egging it. Still a blow for Sky

Team Sky's own website thinks similar ;)
Xabier Zandio is one of the most respected climbing domestiques in the peloton and proved a huge hit during his first season with Team Sky.

Although the subsequent information below goes on to suggest a hard working domestique doing the unglamorous work in the earlier parts of mountain stages. I guess he does the Stannard / Pate type role on the stages when they can't get over the early climbs but this race has been lacking in those sorts of stages so far.

Is the break going to stay away then? Should be a close run thing unless they completely crack on the climb.

Hmmm... I reckon they'll be caught at about 1.5km to go.

Welcome to the rough and tumble world of pro cycling - you have to do what it takes to get your man to the front on races like this. Froome had to push someone out of the way a few stages ago when they tried to muscle in on him.

Peloton 1.25 behind. They are going to get caught arent they.

Peloton flying and battle for position in full flow.

It's a tricky one for them today - they won't want the break caught and J Rod, Valv and Bertie to pick up bonus seconds but they still need to ride at the front to position Froome for the start of the hill.

No - shove man, make it apparent that you are having that bit of road and he backs off to avoid a crash. You'd be amazed at how stable those guys are on their bikes and the amount of contact (deliberate and accidental) that occurs in the peloton. Have a look for some old (before the commisaires got tougher) footage of track sprinting for an idea of how much contact they can take even at flat out pace or look at Japanese kierin racing for a real eye opener!

    1) Why did katusha and moviestar let this break go so close to finish when J-Rod would win guarenteed ?
    2) why the fuck are sky on the front they wont crak j-rod on this thing for sure.
