    WANKERS

    Who?

Contador definitely not at his best.

Froome showing a bit of naivety there, in my opinion.

He's playing stalking horse for Valverde.

There's only two real teams in this race: Sky and Spain.
Indeed, Froome got a bit of a working over by the Spaniards today.

Valverde looking comfortable crossing the line. J-Rod sandbaggin earlier. Feel sorry for Bert - though still coming into form I think, good signs. Froome toast.

He got worked over by the locals a bit, didn't he?

Even though I had him on PTP I'm glad Contador didn't win that. Shame Valverde did. Neither deserved it with their blatant wheel sucking.

The final meters show that that's not quite true: plenty of rivalry between the Spaniards, and no presents

Ok Contador, not bad. Next time hit these punks with 5km to go minimum. Easily the best, just don't let these sprinters take the win and bonus seconds with 5m to go.

Next mountains are 7 days away. Contador well and truly in the racing swing by then.

FF the WANKER is Bertie steak man noy Valverde and J-Rod, at least they both attacked.
bertie had the chance to drop the other two with froome but chose not to, they would have rode away easily. So I am glad the valverde and J-Rod passed him and took the time bonuses.
Froome should not have done so many bursts he paid for that on this type of climb.
Think he may learn from this stage but the will do better in others now he realises he is not that much faster than others.

Nice to see Roche still up there in GC, giving the Vuelta a good crack.

Big mistake by Froome to play around and reduce the pace.
To be fair he didn't want to drag Contador to the finish, if Contador had worked the stage might have finished differently.

AC 7 seconds behind Froome on GC.

Got to hand it to Valverde. Thought he was done with about 2km to go. That was a classic case of Froome getting way ahead of himself. He's got thousands of hard miles already in his legs, he should be measuring his effort through this Vuelta not trying to blaze up every climb like there's no tomorrow. Makes the rest of the race hard to predict.

Good stage. All 4 riders very much still in contention for the overall. Nice climb, too, like a rampy Alpe d'Huez. Did no-one notice that there's more than one mountain in Andorra until now?

Welshman I suggest you STFU when replying to me...cpl more posts and I will add you to the list of people who when I see their name/avatar just skip on by without reading.

Re what you post above...it is not worth a response.

This middle week looks a bit of a snoozefest though which is a shame, just look at the stage profiles for next Saturday onwards however and they are just insain.

Reckon Froome will get a bit of a talking to about how he played that. No need to attack where he did when it's 3 against 1 and he paid for it. Looked shagged finishing.

Valverde played that very well. Contador looked like he was going backwards as they approached the line.

Still very tight and enjoying the vuelta. No-one standing out as a class above. Come on J Rod my Ptp beauty.

TV coverage nowhere near as comprehensive as at TdF. Hardly any different camera angles, too many pointless overhead shots of stage finish and not what's happening on the road etc. etc.

Feel free not to like him, but hoping any rider crashes is pretty weak.
  • Could almost hear Wiggo shouting at his telly at Froome to hold something back on that climb like Wiggo did on Planche des Belles Filles. I had been starting to feel that finally Froome had learned to pace his efforts, but today's thrown that up in the air..

I think a fresher Froome might have got away with it, it's starting to look like he has too many miles in his legs.

Yeah but you don't win races by riding wheels. You also don't win fans that way. At least he has balls to attack however much I dislike him.

Think Contador didn't want to work with him as he fears him the most given his TT. He needs to put time into Froome more than J-Rod and Valverde.

GC looks very interesting. Next big test is the TT, and considering TT abilities, the whole top 5, including Gesink even, could be extremely close together until next Saturday

Got a feeling the GC will look sightly different Wednesday night and then J-Rod and Valverde might not be such a worry for Froome and Bert.

At least he is still in contention. Lesson to be learned and move on. Sky B team maybe took control a touch early too.

Wiggins probably also shouting at the telly that he would destroy this lot.

You might be right but there was I think there is naivety that's plain to see in his race tactics. Not sure about Portal as lead DS for Sky for this Vuelta - pretty inexperienced for lead DS at a GT IMO - but a bit of Sean Yates in his ear tonight wouldnt go amiss

Lesson to be learned for Froome: stop letting Contador wheelsuck you for 5k. How he achieves that I do not know.
