What's that going to do to the GC?

Froome 10 seconds down, Contador 18 seconds down (I think, it's gone off the other screen now).

Ha Ha "El Perro Maldevo".......13 seconds from yer man. Sky outrageously riding faster than others in a race.....

Contador used to look good on these sort of finishes though.

Nah not really. Very fast pace up the climb then a sprint finish. Could give you lots of egs/. His sprint is far behind the other top GT riders.

So what about the climb up to Mende in the 2010 TdF?

Sky looked strong there, starting to think Froome might have this as I can't see J-Rod taking enough on the climbs (and that's assuming he holds the longer climb form he had in the Giro) to wipe out his likely time trial losses. Contador could come back into it, but he looked human today, a bit like he looked in last year's tour. Valverde a poor man's J-Rod these days.

Gianni Meersman impressive: yesterday 3rd in a flat bunch sprint, today 19th on a mtf :o

Why has Rodriguez just had three podium presentations in a row?
    Stage win, ok
    Red jersey
    What's the other?

Gesink came back well there. Re Bertie, he's never been a great sprinter but on top form you would expect him to have been a couple of seconds down on Froome max. Froome seemed to die in the last few metres as well. J-Rod and Valverde always been good for that kind of finish.

Steak for dinner tonight then ? (sorry, couldn't resist)
  • Impressive from Froome. I'm assuming he'll pull more than 1min over all the other GC contenders in the TT, he's going to have a have a bad day to lose that time.

The question remains can anyone remain that hot for that long? It'll be nearly 3 months at peak form he'd end up exhibiting. History shows it's very very rare to remain that high for that long, so it's likely that he's going to blow eventually.

Shame, because he deserves at least one GC out of last 3 he's entered.

I've had a quick look around, but it's quicker to ask here:

Do the points and KOM at Veulta wear green and polka-dot as in TdF?

    Thanks.

Perhaps his preparation was a bit better?!

He'll be fine - Sky have a swimming coach who has consigned all that "holding form" business to history ;)

Interesting thing is with this tour. If Contador does have a poor Vuelta (not saying he has alrdy)

But that is only going to purhaps bring out more questions about him no?

I guess the Spanish fans (and FF) will prob want those questions directed to those above Bertie in the GC! :P

Wouldn't be so sure about a 1 min gain in the TT...

That'll be a minute on J-Rod surely? Froome appears to be quite good at climbing and quite good at time-trialling, I think he'll cope with that bump OK.

As opposed to a measly pathetic bronze ?

Contador has only raced about 12 days since February - As Sean Kelly said training miles are not the same as racing miles. so it's only realistic for him still to be off the pace a bit, I expect him to be up there in the last week....so i dont know where your line of questioning is going ????
