Doesnt seem like Sep was faced with much option. Burnt his bridges to the ground with Garmin.0 -

That's a funny move.
RR, how come you can spend so much time on this forum?! Everytime I look at a thread you have replied before anyone ; )Contador is the Greatest0 -

I had heard he had an offer from Sky, but he was looking around for more money. Purely gossip that though.
He had a few problems with injury this year and mates said he was doing a lot of riding around Essex looking for riding partners! Maybe he felt out of the GT tour teams and feels as though he'll get a better crack of the whip elsewhere...http://www.georgesfoundation.org

Its an odd one. He's looked likely to be leaving for a while now, if that hadn't been the case then the timing would look a bit dodgy. The destination still looks a bit dodgy!0

Things are on the quiet side at the moment. And I'm muti-tasking. At least that's what I tell myself. Plus I'm off to France for a few days on the bike later in the week so getting in my twopennoth now0 -
Dowsett to Movistar is a strange one, he's a TT specialist who can do lead outs and who may one day be able to develop into a flat classics contender, none of which Movistar traditionally show much interest in.
I can see why he's leaving Sky, but would have thought he'd have ended up at a team like Garmin or OPQS."I have a lovely photo of a Camargue horse but will not post it now" (Frenchfighter - July 2013)0 -
Can see why he didn't come out with a big anti-doping stance now, wouldn't have gone down well with his new team mates I suspect! it really does seem an odd destination for him though.0

Just bizarre. Absolutely not making any insinuation, but why would a clean young rider go to a Spanish team led by Valverde..? It's also square peg-round hole in terms of fit, surely.
Wonder whether the deal had been done before the Vuelta. He was hacked off when he was bumped for Richie Porte for the ride.0 -
The deal was done months ago apparently0

Not trying to defame anyone, but Dowsett couldn't look more dodgy right now:
He used to ride for the Livestrong team
He defended Armstrong as a legend after the USADA report was published
He leaves Sky during their purge
He signs for Movistar led by the unrepentant doper piti.valv
Perhaps he was just naive when he called Armstrong a legend and really hasn't come across a doping culture like he claims, but he might be in for a shock come next season!
Rule No.10 // It never gets easier, you just go faster0 -
It's been said before but the whole legend thing was just as the usda report came out. he was asked in the morning at the bejing tour start line. Not the best time to really be thinking what to say etc. she he did say was the usual jibba jabba any bone head might of said in his position.
very odd to go to Moviestar and ride for Valverde. I do hope he gets a grilling on twitter over that :P0 -
Bit of a shame, but I think he might get more chances at Movistar. Maybe he'll get into their cobbles team, and get some chances in one week TT heavy races.0
-
He clearly likes his TT'ing but did he get any significant results in any TT's this year?
I know he didnt get many Pro Tour chances but he must of had some cracks at some TT's this year?
I know on the mountain heavy races he suffered big time and possibly did alot worse then even he expected. I just cant think of any TT's he really showed up in. The Brit TT doesn't count as with the people that turned up for that he only had to sign up to virtually win it :P0 -
Some nice anti-doping quotes from earlier in the year.... as stated be interesting to see how he gets on with Valverde and his pals...
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/olympics/18431773
"We're all now big believers in clean cycling. And the amount we're tested it would be stupid of us to try anything.
"So for the guys from that era it's something that happened. Maybe it was out of their hands a little bit - there was a lot of pressure from teams.
"But now, because there is no excuse to do it, I don't see why there shouldn't be lifetime bans.".....0 -

This season was basically a write-off for him cos of injuries. Apart from getting 8th at Worlds I think most of his rides were of the coming back from injury variety. He said he was struggling to do multiple days of racing in a row.
Last year was very promising though, and he's only just turned 24. I doubt he'll ever get to Wiggins/Martin level, but that next tier down should be possible.0 -
on another point is their anyone at movistar that will finish ahead off him on the cobbles.eating parmos since 1981

Now I'm no doctor but does anyone really believe that a haemophilliac would mess around with PED's?
The pitchforks seem to be getting larger the longer this goes on.0 -

Yes, this is just incredulous rubbish. He's moving because he wants to ride a GT and the Sky squads are looking virtually fully formed already for next years GTs, he thinks he's got a shot at making Movistar's Tour team (we shall see), and maybe he's getting a payrise more in line with what he thinks he's worth, moving on from his 2-year neo-pro stint.
I certainly think he's in for a shock next year - even if its not seeing and hearing things he likes to think dont go on in the current peloton, it will be the big difference from Sky in the level of support and coaching he's had since turning pro.0
