Tdf Stage 2 *Spoiler*

ES making a big deal that Cav hasn't thanked his team in either of the interviews he gave but to be fair the team didn't have to do anything for him today. It will be interesting to see what the sprint teams do on the next flat stage.0

Brilliant, can't wait to see the highlights. That's the thing about cav I suppose, he's not just bloody fast, he really knows where to position himself and when to go. Dunno if it's through his track background but he really is a very complete sprinter. Surprised he's won so early though, he'll probably draw a blank from now on!0

That's got to be worthy of a "No Duff" Nap D!0 -
Any further on Kittel? Will he be borrowing Greg Lemond's cycling cap tomorrow?0

I think that Sky's chances of doing(/being expected to do) no work on the sprint stages have now been greatly reduced. Argos and Lotto bought the hype, and got beaten on the sly, and fair play to Sky for pulling it off. I expect they will look to Sky to do their fair share now.
I am half expecting one of the stages later in the week to have a breakaway that everyone refuses to chase if Sky don't come to the front.
It was like a full team/stage scale of what Sagan did yesterday.0 -
Think RSNT will want to be in yellow for as long as possible though. You live and learn. At any rate, you live0

on twitter he posted
"Golden rule for me today: Never trust a fart... -.- I'm happy that I finished the race. But last night has taken its toll so no sprint 2day."
wise words indeed0 -

Ha ha ha great tweet...
Have to say was mightily impressed with the pocket rocket today. Was so patient, waited waited waited, jumped from Goss to Griepel at the right time and then it was game over. Excellent. Was impressive seeing Sagan hold his own whilst being shouldered by Goss...0 -

I think you are right in principle but Sky are making it clear through Cav interviews that yellow is the sole priority. As long as Wiggo is a genuine GC contender, unless his position is under threatfrom a breakaway, they will sit back and Cav will mosquito off whoever is in front of him.0 -

Not good - wasn't the same driver that nearly killed Hougerland & Flecha last year was it?0 -

I think Jerry is the only one that noticed that it was Green Edge that dragged Cavendish through the peloton. Goss fell asleep and Cavendish grabbed Henderson's wheel, who kindly led him from about 15th to 5th. Does Henderson not realise that he doesn't ride for Sky any more? It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0

I can't see Sky chasing down breaks in sprint stages. They won't want to use their team any more than is necessary this early on. And I can't see Lotto/GreenEdge/Argos giving up any chance of a stage win in a forlorn attempt to make Sky work.
This year's lighter, slightly less powerful, leadout-trainless Cav gives Greipel/Goss and co. as good a chance to win some TDF sprints as they might get for a few years. It was close today, on another day maybe Cav can't get on the right wheel/gets boxed in/isn't quite quick enough. Better a decent chance of a stage win than none.0 -
I wonder if Bob Stapleton was watching today? maybe he could have, should have balanced his team a bit rather than putting all the eggs in the basket of the cav train..."I get paid to make other people suffer on my wheel, how good is that"

Onward to Stage 3, should be far more interesting!0 -

Think that was actually Hagen. Cav was even further back.0 -
the new cav leadout train, oscar, henderson and greipel I dont think he really jumped weels as such just used his head and knew who to follow to get up there. To be honest he did it better than if he followed EBH becuase as good and fst as ebh is, he does get in some wrong positions.
It is not easy to do though as you could see ith Sagan who got bossed out.
I see no reason why sky should work to chase breaks down on sprint stages. Some of the teams will focus on stage wins with no real chance of GC and CAv will just take what he can and they can always use Bernie and EBH for lead out if they wish, just like training for olympics for Cav, no real pressure it must really pish lotto off though
Also I am not convinced Cav has los any powerwith weight loss, this would have been watched closely last few weeks.0 -
What a total balls up by Greenedge and Goss in particular. How did Goss's lead out man get detached and thus allow Cav to replace Goss and be led all the way to the wheel of Greipel!
Hilarious Nice from Cav and great interview where for once he didn't have to praise his team over and over and could basically say I'm a bonus rider but heh I'm brilliant so ..... 'Kick Ass!'0 -
I think I'm in love...

Argy Bargy far from uncommon in XC races so that would nt have worried him any....We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

I didn't fancy Cav's chances today (for reasons stated early on in thread).
Thought Goss (12/1) and Griepel (6/1) were overpriced. Thankfully backed them both each way so escaped with a profit.0
