Looks like more of a race face then when he is actually racing.

I read he'd had some bad shellfish and was making a dash for the hotel lav.

    Might explain it.

Anyone else find it odd that he is training in a national champ kit. I honestly don't think I have seen anyone else do this except at team camps.

What do you think he should be training in?

Its a pretty nice kit, its one he has lots of handy and its the one he will be riding in the Tour.

    Nice pics!

At least his helmet/bike/jersey are coordinated!

With the national champs taking place this weekend is this week not the last week he can wear it?

If it were me I'd enjoy wearing it as much as possible.

Yeah, they do train in it. Notably, Google StreetView managed to capture Tom Boonen hanging around outside Vansummeren's house, ready to start a training run.

These are image promotion shots for the fans.

IIRC the Sa Calobra climb was one of Ullrich's favourite training ramps too.

Lives locally and see him out and about in his Brit Champs Jersey (on the bike obviously) - he earnt it so no harm in him wearing it.

He'd get 5 extra watts with white socks.

I believe national and world champs are expected to wear their national colours whenever possible.

    FF are these recent photos?

What sort of training would the pros be doing this close to the tour?

He said after the Dauphine that he'd be at home, with just some training, but all the serious work was done. So I assume these at at least before the Dauphine.

Promo-tastic. We'll be seeing more of that shoot.

In terms of training, he'd surely want to be doing lower volume, high intensity stuff now so gunning it up some hills is probably a good move.

Exactly. Living like a recluse, avoiding germ-carrying tourists is more likely at this point.

All I can say is that the description had them as being from him training yesterday. I havent tried to cross reference that anywhere though.

    Yup - he's in Mallorca

For an accomplished pursuiter and tester, he looks like a stack of Toblerones on the bike.

Team Sky have left it up to the individual riders as to what they do prior to the tour - some of them are in a training camp in France, but Bradley has gone with his family to Majorca - there is an article on it on the team sky website. I should imagine given the detail with which Team Sky put into these things that they have some sort of training plan put together and haven't said "alright lads - off you on your hols until the end of June"!

    Probably right.
Team GB track squad have a base in North Mallorca and they have all (VP the exception) been out there recently; many on several occasions, as part of a block of training.

I think we need a "just 'cos you're the national champ, does that really entitle you to wear the national champ's jersey" thread

is the right answer - Inner Ring blogged about it last year?

I seem to recall in someone's book (Millar's?) they mention that Lance had a massive box full of Worlds Champs Jerseys (obviously when he was world champ) in his flat in wherever.
