After popping over to the road beginners forum for the first time in about 5 months ive now left feeling like I need to:
1. Check my seat height
2. Check my chain wear
3. Clean my bike way more often
4. Invest in WD40
5. Get the missus to take a photo of me on the bike so that I can check my position
6. take another look at a frame sizing guide - just to be sure
7. Change my tires
8. Get a new bike
.....I could go on.
Tomorrows shopping list has also been extended somewhat to include
1. WD40
2. Dry Lube
3. Rag (can you buy 'old rag'?)
4. New Saddle
5. New Shorts
6. New Chain
7. Chain Measuring Tool
8. New Bike......
I feel like i'm due a nervous breakdown....

Now it's coming into summer, I've been having far too many dry rides and I've run out of lube.
Etc. etc. etc.0 -
Have you tried pedalling harder?
Bike fit?
SPDs or SPD-SLs.
Is the new bike carbon or aluminium? What weather will you be going out in. Campy or SRAM or Shimano? Which waterproof?
heaven forbid someone not sure what they want/need should ask a question.0 -
How do I know which gear to use?0

At least the beginners forum is good for a laugh...
Road Buying: 'Which £1k bike?' and 'Which bike for £1k?' and 'Which C2W bike for £1k?' and '£1k cyclocross or road?' and 'New for £1k or second hand for less than £1k?' and 'carbon or aluminium for £1k' and 'Is the ribble/planetx/specialized/giant/boardman good for £1k?' etc.0 -
I wish I had £1k.0

Are my tyres too round?
I weigh ten tonnes, what pressure should I have in my tyres and what size of jersey will fit me?0 -

Personally I'd favour GT85 (seems to be permanently on special offer in Aldi, worth bearing in mind) over WD40, each to their own though. Old rag....unless you've a completely stuffed old shirt or tea-towel, you could always go for a roll of J-Cloths from the local pound shop. Very handy for bike-related cleaning, though I also tend to chop up my old work shirts too.

LL, I've seen bikes equipped with Shimano, Campag or SRAM - which is best?
Also, a few of said bike are made of this new fangled carbon fibre - can I ride these bikes in the rain?

Or 'The confirmation bias and trending products section'.
Christ, if your av. speed isn't up 1mph after buying some new gear and you haven't got either: wheels from Derek at Wheelsmith; a Caad9/10; a Colnago; Planet X Model B's; Fizik Microtex bartape; or lately, carbon shoes or a Barfly Garmin mount some or Mavic Ksyrium Elites then God help you (and your av. speed).0 -
"My average speed is up 1.4 mph on my commute!"
Love those, could be nothing else but your new gear could it?"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"

What pressure-size (in carbon lay-up) should my local Halfords&Wiggle shop set my new £1k groupset geometry saddle sore to ?
I think it should be at least 42, but my cycle-club friends say It should be at least 16mph per climb cadence category....
Help me !All the gear, but no idea...0 -

As a bit of an old hand I get an inferiority complex when new riders are moaning they can only average 19mph on their 100 mile ride (which always includes a mythical 1 mile long 25% climb).0

just wondering which do you think is better?
higher gear - lower rpm /// lower gear - higher rpm
A classic..
I am not on Road Beginners HelpDesk tonight btw!!0
