Fair enough, but it's hardlyfast as fupp wrote:a nation which busses unpaid workers into london to act as slave labour on security for the royal junket
It's appauling conduct and management of the resources by the security company, (and clearly the Queen) but it's not exactly slave labour is it. The article states that it was part of NVQ training, I know people who have been through elements of 'on the job' NVQ training and not been paid, that's often what training entails. The article also states that benefits weren't at risk. Basically, you have a few paragraphs with limited information and you've come to your own conclusions; which is fine, but not necessarily the whole picture, and certainly not slave labour.
I'm still interested in your answers to my other questions.Science adjusts it’s beliefs based on what’s observed.

im my book- unpaid work= slavery
the oppression continues- we seem to be oppressing lots of folk in sandy countries in the name of 'freedom' as we speak
would you do that work under those conditions for £0 ?
a president under the irish or german system i.e. a ceremonial head of state voted for by the people
the monarchy doesnt directly adversely affect my life however i am against the monarchy as an institution- the fact that someone is considered better due to accident of birth underpins our whole ruling class and the royal family give credence to this outdated feudal notion'dont forget lads, one evertonian is worth twenty kopites'0 -

I think your first comment is highly debatable, but fair enough.
No, I wouldn't, but I'd have had the sense to ensure that when I was told that I was going to be paid, I had some form of contract. I'd have been very clear in my understanding of whether it was unpaid training, or paid work that I was entering into.
So who would you suggest as a 'representative' of the UK/Commonwealth who would do a better job and have as much respect as the Queen ?
I don't consider the Queen, or any of the Royal Family 'better' than me, but I do consider them more important in certain aspects of life. There's a huge difference. I'd suggest that anyone who thinks the Royals better than them, just because of their position, needs to think about their own self worth a little. Just because someone doens't have enough about themselves to realise this, doesn't mean that the Monarchy should be abolished.
Why do you see the Monarchy as a bad thing for the UK ?Science adjusts it’s beliefs based on what’s observed.

What does that have to do with royalty?
It's the elected officials that are messing up our Country.
And it is our fault for electing them, and letting them.
Anyway, I am off to do something more interesting and it won't have anything to do with the overblown party.None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.0 -

What does that have to do with the topic? The article you've linked is about the policy of an elected politician.
You'd be better off moving to France. I gather they've recently become a republic?0 -

I had a jubilee flotilla at the weekend too. Had to break it up with the bog brush."That's it! You people have stood in my way long enough. I'm going to clown college! " - Homer0
