    Nice day, nasty parcours. Love it.

    How small do people reckon the GC group will be at the top of the reiterjoch (sp?)? Hopefully yesterday's flat stage means they'll go as hard as they did two days ago. Tomorrow will be in the back of the top guys' minds, but people a little down like pozzo just have to make today count.

    Fingers crossed for some great racing and massive time gaps.

    just seen the profile on Inner Ring, its massive! today and tomorrow I think Basso will do well, he is good on steep stuff that carries on for a while isnt he? Maybe today he will lay the ground work and then put the hammer down on the stelvio. total guesswork though

    You would think that if Basso and Scarponi are going to make time up tomorrow they will have to lay the ground work today? Looks like a day for Basso, hopefully the cramp Scarponi suffered on stage 17 won't rear its ugly head ( completely unbiased and nothing to do with my PTP GC pick ). The question is can the Liquigas train stay with Basso to the final climb ? If they do i will be a monster pace, could see Ryder in trouble , possibly J-Rods off day?
    Take care of the luxuries and the necessites will take care of themselves.

    This is pretty much what I just came in to type. They would be pretty brave to leave it all until tomorrow and hope to crack Ryder then and take J Rod in the time trial.

    I think a monster pace is what plays into the hands of Hejsdal (and even more so riders like Wiggins) it's more relying on people screwing up nutrition etc. (like Kreuziger probably did) than it is hurting them. As these riders like a steady hard pace, they're amoung the strongest aerobic riders there. The monster pace deadens the legs of the attacking riders too, so then the attacks are much weaker when they come and they can't distance and isolate the aerobic guys.

    The big attacks after monster pace worked when everyone was an aerobic beast from EPO, doesn't work so much now.

    I guess Pozzo does look a bit dodgy. I like J-Rod, but a Spaniard at Katusha?! Basso - has history but talks a good talk these days. Scarpo? Has history. Ryder? Uran? Who knows...

    Its more to do with the extremes and the potential for amateur fork up. It's the whole Pantani death wish thing.
