Short, lumpy stage today so hopefully they'll be pushing harder from the start. I don't know Italy at all but the stage information I've read says it's a beautiful area - Sky player here I come!!

First hour was apparently (and unsurprisingly) very fast.

It's got some kind of world heritage status, a number of small picturesque towns hugging the steep rocky coastline.

There's a Cinque Terre granfondo in early september, for those who would like to ride these roads.

1'53" with 75kms to go... probably not!
  • J-Rod in the break? That won't be sticking then.

    Different J Rod...Jackson Rodridguez (number 29)

Looking at the profile it's a bit of a Classica San Sebastian kind of course today.
  • Gap shot to 3'30 and rider 136 (Adam Hansen) fallen and looks rather sore

There'll be an interesting PTP ruling if he wins.

Thank God for RAI cos Eurosport suck, once again.
Late from the girlie tennis, (which luckily was about a short a clay match as you could get) they proceed to waffle about yesterday and Gawd knows what, for a further 15 minutes.
Result, they miss 20 kms of the race and the fabulous Cinque Terre.

And the multiple ad breaks begin............

  • As much as the scenery is superb...I also look in envy at the smoothness of the roads they ride on

High chance a breakaway could win it today.

I wonder why some people even bother watching cycling to be honest. All they want to do is f***ing moan.

If you don't like it, turn the f***ing thing off!

My bloody RAI coverage keeps looping to that stupid ad involving some husky Andy Kauffman look-alike sitting in a tree alongside his flour-sack wearing wife, while some lad in a helicopter and a doctor with a ladder want to help him with his erectile dysfunction. The tree and the helicopter may imply some "wood" and "chopper" symbolism but mainly its just sh!te.

I know what the Pro Race clique are going to say about a stage these days before they even say it (usually 'boring'). I wonder sometimes if they only watch so they can tell everyone that in their expert opinion it was a boring stage....
