FOD sounds like a plan, but for those that don't want to do the DH, the Verderers trail is pretty crap (its only a blue)... I could imagine a few disappointed people lol.

Personally, I'd vote for Cannock
    Good trail.
    Good DH.

To be honest i hate the trail more than the Verderers lol,

But it's a valid suggestion, the only thing that puts me off is last time it was there too.

Surely its all irrelevant what the trail is like, is a social event more than owt else, bike radar was cool because we had barbequed bacons and glo stick wars, not great trails

And I'll be there so what's not to like

    I'm with the tailless cat.

FOD seems a bit too close to Cannock really, which doesn't seem to make sense if this is designed for everyone. One up in Scotland would be worth a weekend, definitely!

Once you've decided on a place, I'll let you know if I'm coming or not :D

    Suggestions for Scotland would be:
    Fort Bill
    Glentress/Inners
    Ae Forest

All of the above have great XC and DH

  • Glentress/Inners gets my vote :)

Tonnes to do and loads of good campsites to choose from!

If we need to do a South Wales pickup on the way, we could hire a van and car share...

Mt point exactly, there's loads of weekends planned where we can ride bikes, surely a weekend of seeing if everyone is as big a Stefan Kuntz as they seem would be more the point, then have it near somewhere where if you really want to play bikes then you can.

If we need good XC and DH then Cwmcarn is better than FoD. If we're just having a beer session then somewhere like Cardiff on a Saturday night should be a laugh. Actually, stuff that, let's just go to Amsterdam - plenty of hookers and massive (water-filled) ditches ;-)

Prob with Cwm is you have to uplift it to be any use on the Downs as its such a big hill.. would be 45-50 push to the top compared to 15min maxed at FOD.

But it's a sensible suggestion plus i could sleep in my bed! lol

Other prob with cwm is where to stay, all of these ideas you want somewhere easily accessible from camping area to trail, and somewhere that will allow a sizeable group.

Well this should be more party than riding.

So camping is more important than riding.

With your party bus all we need is a decent sized BBQ and a pig to slice?

Exactly exactly exactly, if we all wanted to get together and ride theres plenty of rides planned that people can't be bothered to make a 4 hour drive each way for ;)

No this is a getting to know your fellow Crudders in a hello how do you dopop your keys in the bowl then bite down on something because someone is gonna get hurt and I dont mean just hurt, I mean real nasty hurt kind of way.

If anywhere would accomodate us then I think that Rhyl would be suitable. If people want to load up their cars then and go to degla or somewhere they can or they can stay and drink

I can have a weekend on the beers at my local with my "drinking mates" if I want to drink, don't need to spend a fortune getting over to England for it. I've sold myself on the idea of Inners/GT now anyway.

Probably be heading up one Friday in Jul-Aug and coming back Sun lunchtime, stopping in a B&B and going out for a few beers on the fri&sat nights into Peebles. Maybe stop off at Whinlatter too if there is time on the way up/down.

So if anyone fancies joining me, that's where I'll be (in a non-toys-out-of-the-pram kinda way).

Same here. I just can't be arsed with drinking any more. Socialising and riding, yeah, but I can't be arsed with people, generally, let alone a crowd of blind drunk ones.

I know that feeling. I live a long way from the office and drive everywhere, so limit myself to two drinks if I go out after work.

    Proper bo!

Well I can't make any promises just yet, but I've got some free money to spend on my corporate travel account. I was going to see if I can get a self catering lodge or something for the weekend. I quite fancy innerhaven if I can get it for the nights of 10th & 11th Aug. Sleeps 6, so I can bring a few guests. :D
You can apparently see people descending Caddon Bank from the kitchen window, which sounds great to me.

    Who said about being wasted?

But a time to catch up have beer and get to know one another in a relatively cheap enviroment is the idea. Not everyone has ready cash to burn, but it's fair enough if you don't wish to meet your fellow crudders. Just take the discussion for the ride to the ride forum so this thread can remain clear a bit so we know who actually would like to meet each other. :)

And not being arsey just trying to see who wants to do what and it makes it more difficult with a bunch of non relevant posts.
