Thanks Rich. I'm surprised there's not been more mutterings about the new investigation. Off to google Michele's daughter...

I'd be careful, it appears there's an Italian porno star called Michelle Ferrari.

I suspect because what's in the public domain is from last year.

Erm. In short, it depends on some stuff going on with me and work.

I'll let you all know, don't worry.

Is there like a general consensus as to who or which teams are dopers?

Many of the pro peloton seem to shy away from condemning dopers in public, what's that all about?

Why so much suspicion on Spanish riders and teams, what about the Italians or any nation for that matter?

Are team Sky considered to be cleanest of the clean or is it all just a facade.

Thanks in advance for putting up with my newbie questions.

I think if people were to guess cleanest team the likes of FDJ, Cofidis, Europcar and Garmin would come looooong before Sky.

The forumites here seem to be most down on Katusha, Lampre, Astana, Radioshack and any Spanish team. Also people are now not happy with OPQS dominance over the cobbles.

Personally I reckon doping is still rife and any speculation (mine included) is just that. Still love the sport though. People on the forum have set assumptions and don't tend to move from them (cf Frenchfighter, Biking Bernie, DenisNoward) and most (with one or two exceptions) don't have any more of a clue than you or I. A classic example of this is the unstinting belief that Sky and anything British has an abhorrence of dope.

Most pro riders have a fear of 'spitting in the soup' because they might just need a place on that manager's team one day, and you never know when you'll have to co-operate during a race- you can't do that with someone you've just called a cheat. Also, they would alienate all the doper's friends and colleagues (which, in the case of a Spaniard, could be an entire nation).
And last but not least- very few pro could afford to pay the slander/libel charges which could arise.

So all respect to people like Marco Pinotti, who usually has a pithy tweet when a positive is announced.

What they say in private though..............................

There's more of a consensus about who's most likely to be clean. I'd pick the exact four teams Timoid did as most likely. The names Katusha, Astana and Lampre are likely to be near the top of most naughty lists. Radioshack too (but not me so much). Opinions will vary - none of us really have a clue. It's debatable as to whether team wide programs even exist at World Tour level any more. It's more 'wilful blindness' to use a topical phrase.

In the main they'd rather concentrate on their own performances and talk about the racing. There's enough doping talk as it is, especially from outside the sport. They'd rather focus on the positives. Clean riders probably have no real evidence of others doping anyway and if they want to blow the whistle they'll do it privately.

Operacion Puerto, Heras, Contador, Valverde, Mosquera, Mayo, Liberty Seguros, Kelme, the general attitude of their Federation. It adds up to an unflattering portrait. The Italians seem to have improved over the last few years. Their Federation seem keen to bust cheats.

They don't seem to have done anything dodgy yet.

This all reminds me of this article, and who knows maybe there was one clean Spanish rider?

    http://www.cyclingnews.com/blogs/jonath ... g-the-dots

Its complex even for those on the inside.

And Yes I know JV with all his skeletons, but I think you've got to play the ball not the man with what he's written.

The irony of that after Tondo's untimely demise...

Of course I don't include you in that Rick.

In fact I have a suspicion that you have a mannequin with a cut out of Tom Boonen's face on it at home, Avid Merrion stylee.
