Was going to say exactly that. Seeing as you beat me to it, how about anything by the beatles?

Anything by The Smiths or Sex Pistols.

  • In my book, being overrated is probably a worse crime than being old-fashioned honest sh!te - hmmmm, I've a mind to start a similar thread for films.
Anyhow, I have never understood the appeal of Simple Minds, so I'll nominate anything by Simple Minds.

    Please leave this thread. :|

Ps. Its hard to overrate The Smiths when they have been truly undervalued for many years. (Don't think they ever achieved a number 1?)

    My opinion though, obviously

Imagine by John Lennon. Dull, dull, dull!

And I wholeheartedly agree with this statement:

Can't believe it took 20 posts for Status Quo to be mentioned. Anything by them is utter 'dirge' ( a word my father-in-law uses. Did he make it up?).

+1 for Imagine. 6th form lyrics & a Play In A Day piano hook.

No-one's suggested Come On Eileen yet so I will. Unbearable record.

According to Q magazine, the best song ever is U2 - One.

Not necessarily the worst song ever but that is surely vastly over rating it.
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

A dirge is a type of song that would usually be sung to express mourning or grief. As a result they don't exactly fill the dancefloor.

Imagine for me too, childish drivel that would have been embarrassing if it had been penned by an idealistic fourteen year old.
