  • Gueze Boon is always drinkable. Do you mean the bottles with "Marriage Parfait" on the label? These are amongst the best, and worth looking for.
They do have some long best before dates, so if you can resist, hide them away for a few months

There's nothing about marriage on the label. It does claim it won the 2012 Beer World Cup though. As for hiding a beer away for a few months - yeah that's not going to happen.

I posted it on twitter and the Oude Geuze Boon garnered the most interest (from people who frequent here). I will open it when Boon(en) reaches the Oude (Kwaremont)

I bought all that lot and had it packed up in a rucksack and a cardboard box and walked out the door straight into someone I know. He thought I was having a party he hadn't been invited to (he's a guy I would invite).

If you're working your way through them as listed, on your own, then this could be a race a rider from Etixx could actually win...

This whole page has suddenly opened up way more questions than it has answered... Not least curious of which is the Mongozo Coconut and Floris Mango combo...

Furry nuff. Cool, and neck it. After all, this is how these beers were ment to be downed.

Mongozo - I like the cup/bowl it's meant to be served in. I don't have one but I want one.

Floris Mango - I just really like mangos. I'm drinking that one right now. As hoped it tastes of mangos.

I have requested a vid of the Boon Oude Gueuze tasting, as it will be Rich's first time on a beer that he may well find similar to riding up the Oude Kwaremont... There's a fairly high probability that he'll have to get off and walk (to the fridge, for something else).

The Cuve Renee was pretty good, had it for the first time a couple of weeks ago.

No video - I don't want you lot realising how fat I am.

I'll describe it on this thread if you like.

This is a forum that regularly describes Cavendish as a morbidly obese bloater. I think they'd faint in shock if they saw me.

But yes, I'm looking forward to hearing your description!

Rich, shove the gueuze and the Orval in the darkest, coolest place in your house/residence for at least a year and then enjoy the fruits of your patience. Neck the rest, naturally. Huy, uy, uy!

I've got 4 Orvals sitting in a cupboard, just about to reach 6 months - been tempted to drink them a few times - but sticking it out this time.

  • Where's the best place to get some Kwaremont? Is it local independents or is it stocked in any supermarkets or offies?

I don't know about here in UK, would be interested in that too. I was at Flanders last weekend so brought some back with me, with matching kwaremont glass of course.

Ive been looking for a while in all the belgian beer style online shops and every time I find a new physical bottle shop, but not found it anywhere yet :( Im assuming its not a known enough brand outside of cycling for people to think its worth bringing over in a big way, given there are hundreds of breweries and I believe last count over 1000 beers, theyll only stock stuff they think they can sell.

Still thinking about it for today's race. I had to miss out on last week's Belgian beer festival race. :P

Definitely a Duvel and one or two Tripel Karmeliet.
Then probably a St Bernardus Trippel, possibly a Rochefort 10, a Chimay Blue, a Deleriums T, or and accident.

Check in Belgian beer bars if they have an off licence - the place I had kwaremont on Friday will let you do take out I think.

It's not Belgian but for the Dutchies, given that it was Paris Roubaix and not in Belgium I got a few of a Beer I ve never seen before in Albert Hein from the Brouwerij Kees.

They do a Session IPA, a "farm House IPA" and a Citra and given that the labels have more English than dutch on I suspect for the UK market which are all very palatable. Similar to Brewdog but a lot cheaper over here.

If you ever fancy something a bit less strong and a bit more summery I can recommend them
We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

  • I'm going for burgers and beers with work tomorrow, and intend on having a few IPAs, an MPA, and at least one CItra.

Got a 75cl dupont bier du miel from the bin end at the local bottle shop for £5. Apparently because it was "past its sell by"...

So basically they've aged it and then reduced it for me.
