Hope it doesn't get over-subscribed as I won't get a place on the criteria (I have 50 and 25 times but they aren't great, go back 15 years and the online entry didn't ask for them). Secretly hoping the event gets over-subscribed

Same here, I can only find one Open10 time from two years ago(thought I had done more) What with B&B, petrol and probably a new cassette to get up the hills(I thought about a triple but that was just stupid on a TT bike) it's going to be an expensive weekend if I'm on the reserve list. The Mrs thinks I'm mad and it's a waste of money but I've promised her the divorce she wants which should leave me free to woo Ms Eyles(that last bit might not be quite right

Yes NapD, except that that 'girl' was none other than Isla Rowntree, founder of IslaBikes. As many-time National Cyclocross Champion I'm guessing she grabbed the nearest bike available and it happened to be a 'cross bike! Anyway, she won a bonus box of Creme Eggs but that was as much for the silly walk (trying to get comfy in her cycling shorts) she performed across the HQ when signing on. She had everyone in fits of laughter............

Blimey, Bob Maitland won the first three events! He was el Pesidente of my club (Concorde RCC) when I was a schoolboy in the late sixties.

Reading the archives, Mick Ives was down to ride last ast year, by the looks of it, but cried off. What a slacker, he'll never amount to much with an attitude like that!!***

*** He made his debut in 1959 (came 10th), and won it 1962, last rode the event in 2010 and came 50th!!! Legend! ( I used to go to his shop in Coventry, near where I worked on Holyhead Road in the 80s)

Got some photos of Mick presenting me with an armful of trophies at my club dinner in the early 90s - those were the days :(

I first came across Mick Ives when I rode a schoolboy cyclo cross event in the sixties - The Marsh & Baxter Pork Chop Grand Prix or some such - Worcestershire somewhere. Mick Ives won the main event. I crashed and broke my Simplex gears :(

I'm out of touch; who's "Mrs King" Bex?

I was referring to Michelle King... a rather speedy TTer who made Jo Rowsell and Danii King look very ordinary in last year's National 10.....

She has won the Rudy Project series for the last 5 years....

Same here. Oh God I feel sick now looking at the pics of last years riders grinding up a hill. Perhaps I'll come down with anthrax or something between now and then

Not sure whether Proto has declared an entry or not?

I'm loving Cakelovinbeast's revelation of NapD's twin and for those of you waxing lyrical about Mick Ives, I came up against him several times in cyclocross races last winter and he's still going very well indeed. He's a big fan of our event so I wouldn't be surprised to get an entry from him again this year.

Unfortunately the finishing order won't be alphabetical by club, Pross!

For those who need a little help finding the latest list of entries received, it's here

    Nice write up there John.

The LMTT has become a highlight of my year despite (or perhaps because of) my complete inability to climb. Simply finishing is the extent of my ambitions (even moreso this year, having had 7 months off the bike...).

It was the highlight of my year too, so sad that I can't do it :(
My problem is getting the leave, it's a lottery as the date isn't released until a couple of months before and my oppos all book their leave 12 months in advance!

A new update of entries received is here

90 entries so far. Just over a week left until the closing date - touch and go whether we have a full field I think.

I'm SO pleased to have 16 entries from women!!!!!

Is it just me getting more involved/paying more attention or has the last year just seen more and more Ladies in events? I started racing last March and have never seen more than half a dozen females at a TT. And in the last month alone in the road races I have done there have been 40-75 entries!

Really looking forward to this one. Think I will use a road bike as my season is geared towards road racing; any thoughts on this or if you think I would be significantly more competitive on a TT bike? I appreciate the efficiencies with the TT position, bike, etc but trying to combine season goals with this event too.

    Cheers

Ps, another guy from our club just entered so one more for the list hopefully!

There's definitely more women cycling now than there was when I first started. My club even has a women's racing team now. When I first started out there were probably 3 or 4 women regularly (road) racing in my area and all were internationals, there are now quite often around 7 or 8 in a road race bunch. Much more national racing for them as well with the women's series, team series and crit series. Time trialling always had a few more women, this will be my first open TT in 16 years so not sure what it's like anymore.

Definatly more ladies at TTs atm both Club and Open and the quality is getting better as well. I can think of at least two ladies at my last Open who'd qualify for silver awards in mens TTing let alone their gold standard. I think it's attractive to them as the whole scene is friendlier and they don't have to mix it with the men as they sometimes do on handicapped races around here.

The entries have now closed for our event and the final list of entries received can be found here. Note that there will be some reserves because I have more entries than are allowed to start the race. However, no entries will be rejected outright.

The number of women is now 18 and I agree with Pross that the standard of the women who have entered is extremely high. The three women on the podium will have had to have ridden very well to get there. I'd like to think one of the reasons for the big entry of women is because the first-placed woman gets equal recognition as the first-placed man in our event - but this is unfortunately very unusual in the time trialling world.

Now picking myself up off the floor after the start sheet arrived this morning and I saw the ride profile

Could I be the first person to turn up to the event on a TT bike fitted with a triple?!!

Currently only on the reserve list :(

Great news for Ruth that there has been such support for the race though. Just remember, if you've got an entry and DNS without telling Ruth leading to me not getting a ride I will hunt you down and I will kill you! ;)

And ironically the 'Little' bit refers not to the size of the mountains, but the length of the TT - before it was the 'Little' Mountain it was about 30 miles longer...
