He is the Wiggmeister!0

Quick look at the top 10 on the GC now and it does look like people like Valverde should be happy. Not far off jersey, strong team with the yellow and there are some finishes that suit him.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0

Obviously it's too early to tell for sure but I really hope that Boonen's going to be back to something like his best for the classics, would love to see him pick up another big one day win. With his sprint he could benefit if they all ride to try and stop Cancellara.
Sorry to join the Sky love in but Wiggins looked so strong today, doing proper through and offs, no shirking and beating Valverde in the sprint, never though i'd see that! Cav will be quaking in his boots!
Valverde, Leipheimer and TJVG lurking ominously though.
Good stuff."I have a lovely photo of a Camargue horse but will not post it now" (Frenchfighter - July 2013)0 -
Out of curiosity - I've already made my (different) selection -
why is the PTP so convinced that Valverde will take stage 3?0 -
It was between him and Roaquim Rojas (Ok, I ve no idea how to spell his name) for me and Valverde has previous this season. I wish I'd trusted my instincts and switched to Tom when Rick posted the weather report though, can't believe I was actually working at work, WTF?!We're in danger of confusing passion with incompetence

If you forgive me for going a little FF in this post:
100 career solo wins ( as opposed to TTT wins...)
He's still f****** good. Maybe not '05 good, but still.0 -
Have to say, watched the highlights last night, loved the shots alongside the break with 5km to go with Boonen (and later others) calling out their various teammates.
"NICHOLAS, NICHOLAS!" and sure enough, up comes Nicholas and 10 seconds later there's a shot of Boonen on his wheel. Ah, the joys of being a domestique.0 -

The badger’s view
Everyday Bernard Hinault gives us his views on the stage ahead and the riders to watch
Yesterday Wiggins showed how strong he was, he was totally focused. He was well placed when the Omega Pharma Quick Step raised the pace and later played his part in the group’s progression. He even took his chance to go for the bonus sprint. It was typically the kind of stage in which you must keep cautious and focused as there are upsets at every corner. It was textbook riding yesterday. That’s how we saw Jerome Coppel is not entirely ready yet. When you’re a leader with GC ambitions, you must keep near the front and keep ready. If anything happens, you must be ready to react.0 -
-
I think Leiphiemer and TJ got the most benefit yesterday as they both gained time on GC without working as hard as Wiggins who hit the front everytime the pace started to drop in the last 20km. Valverde is going to be the biggest threat for Wiggins I think though.0

I fear the woman on the RHS might be planning some Kathy Bates / "Misery" type kidnappage.
BTW - is it just me or does Boonen seem to have adopted a lower, more Cav-esqe position when sprinting this season (well, as low as someone 6 foot odd can be)'This week I 'ave been mostly been climbing like Basso - Shirley Basso.'0 -
Boonen is a Certified Legend. REAL racer. Not just a pro roder, pure racer.
Levi will go very well on the last TT I would imagine, is in great form and was the only one to hang with Contador on the slopes of San Luis.
Like Iain says, there are a good handful of tailor made finishers for Valverde and those time bonuses will be very useful.Contador is the Greatest0 -

Thought Degenkolb was looking very heavy yesterday. I know he's a big lump of a sprinter but he's looking particularly chunky right now. I didn't think for 1 second he would beat Boonen in that sprint.0

Totally agree about Degenkolb, he looked emormous ! perhaps that kit is not very flattering0

About 85km to go. Michael Morkov (Saxo Bank), Jimmy Engoulvent (Saur-Sojasun) and Roy Curvers (Project 1t4i) have a steady 4.30Contador is the Greatest0
