The sprint was at the foot of the climb with 8km to go. I'm sure the Eurosport commentators mentioned him being with Wiggins during the climb.

Perhaps he helped to position Wiggins during the start of the climb and then sat up, but it does seem that he could have kept his GC position had he wanted to.

It's Wiggins or nothing for GC as far as Sky are concerned. I think they expect to hold the jersey for a few days so it would be totally pointless for Thomas to waste precious energy in defending his top ten GC position. He'd likely lose it by Saturday evening anyway, given the parcours and his recent focus on the track.

Rabo on the front for a possible LLS win. 3.15 is the gap with 75km to go.

Looks a straight repeat of yesterday then, with LLS giving Valverde a nice lead out.

    Standard rabo tactics.

Be rubbish, then decide to do all the work for the peloton to give their 2nd tier favourite a chance.

Is this a reference to FF's earlier comment about a stomach bug?

We've got Harmon and Kelly, but they did comment that a region that usually gets them seems to have the Australian (I think) commentary team for some reason - sounded like they were as surprised as anyone else.
