Here's my ride - http://app.strava.com/rides/5710206 - after hitting 50 miles in 3:10 thought I'd have a chance of completing in 5:45 but a 10 minute puncture stop and legs bonking at 60 miles (body not used to rides longer than 50miles) put paid to that...next year going for that gold certificate :) Very tempted to do the Tour of the Peak in May.

Awesome time, lovely weather. Thanks to Clitheroe Bike Club for sheltering me and a member of the St Helens Club (Adam). Missed out on silver by 9 minutes owing to that shelter though.

Had a great time, loved the Mow Cop climb, less impressed with everyone who stopped straight after climbing it.

Did anyone catch a glimpse of the accident at the back of Gun Hill? I heard a rumour that someone had failed to make the sharp left hand turn at the bottom of the descent.

Thanks! It was my first time using a GoPro camera, and I got loads of footage. I'll try to edit something interesting together...

Great ride, well organised/signed/stocked. Surfaces where a bit shat in places, but this is England as they say...
Race times are a little corrupted i think, maybe those that had a change of heart half way round?
Unless of course Gavin Garth really did ride 102 miles at an average of 42mph in which case i bow in his 'hyperspacepedalling' direction....

Must say big thanks to the lads at Nowrich ABC who i tagged with for 50 or so miles, good bunch of lads and also the big Jock fella who was playing a mixture of blues and house on the iphone as we went up Mow Cop - slightly mad but worked in distracting me from the tarmac wall in front of me!

  • One of my mates signed up to the 100 but took the softer option and turned off for the medium route instead. His time is listed on the 100 event. There must be quite a few who this applies to.

What a great day it was!

I've uploaded my head-cam footage of the Mow Cop ascent, if anyone wants to relive it!

    Good footage, ta for posting.

Nice to see people were better behaved going up it than a couple of years ago, was carnage with zig-zaggers and no warning/unclip/stop right in front of you types.

Watching that footage I am glad I wimped out and did the 47 mile route.

You deserve a medal for riding up that. ;)

Well, I only got my road bike last August, and yesterday was my very first imperial century.
If you train, anyone can do it :-) Build up the miles, don't shy away from hills and you'll be panting steadily up Mow Cop next year ;-)

Yes, some pretty dodgy times there at the top of the board from Race Timing Systems. Lucky it wasn't a real race.
  • What a great day it was, perfect weather and a very well organised event. This was my first ever sportive and first ever 100 miles... did it in 6 hours 18 minutes which I'm happy with concidering i'd never ridden over 70 miles before.

I was flying up to around 70 miles then I hit the wall, had cramp in both thighs and groups were dropping me left right and centre.

Really enjoyed riding in groups and learned a lot from it, can't wait for my next one now :)

Great day, my fears about the coloured start times were unfounded and everything ran smoothly. Can't wait until next years event. My only niggle was some of the pitholes on the descents, some real monsters out there, gotcaught out a number of times. They could have spray paiunted a circle round the bigger ones...just to give people more time to react.
