A true scalp is not only overtaking someone but leaving them stopped at a set of lights. As you, who have clearly beaten the lights, pummels nothing but the open air ahead. ~ 'DondaddyD'. Player of the Unspoken Game0 -

Good job you don't live in Fulham
I practice what I preach - I've been hitting the streets and pressing local councillors on it - managed to get the only Councillor from my party in my area to start doing stuff about it. She got quite behind it too .0 -
Safer man hole covers?
Is such a wonderous thing even possible? That would go some way to improving the quality of the commute.
HGV (and driver) training would be great.
Increased overtake distance.
ASL policing.
An ASL at every crossing and if no ASL either timed lights that lets the cyclist go first and then motorised traffic OR allow cyclists to pass through the crossing and wait on the other side (junctions only).
I do think for balance some form of cycle proficency needs to be established the fact that anyone can get on a bike is an issue, there are some dangerous cyclists out there.Food Chain number = 4

What a brilliant point about the school run. Was just a list item but this should really be emphasized more. The volume of traffic caused by the school run, which is easily a cycleable distance, is huge. Most noticeable by its absence during school holidays. If it was safe enough for kids to cycle to school this wouldn't be a problem. More should be made of this.0

Its good to hear the emphasis on "claiming space" and it being pointed out that it seems to be the pudendum possee who need to be more confident in claiming space/riding primary on the roads.FCN 3: Raleigh Record Ace fixie-to be resurrected sometime in the future

Good word, had to look that up another new word for me this week following on from "tacitly" and "contemporaneous".--

Anecdotes include a female MP whose husband is her "knight in shining lycra" and who went for a tandem tour for her 50th birthday.
Commments include safer manhole covers, more training for all drivers (esp HGV), safer overtaking (motorists increasing the distance).
Fat bloke says he may start cycling.
It sounds like some of them might have actually thought about this.....
Or maybe, just maybe some cyclists have gone to constituency meetings or written to their MP about cycling issues. I know I've done the latter, although Edward Davey MP choose not to respond.....
Well, that too, but the fact they've paid any attention is suprising, as shown by the response you got.0 -

"Treat cyclists as if they were a young girl on horseback"
Does that mean walk behind them with a shovel to pick up the residue after they have gone?Nobody told me we had a communication problem0
