  • I love these French races. They really go after the tin and attack hard. Bunch really splintered here and a real tough climb.

Didn't get to see him race anywhere else and do not follow domestic. Hopefully he can continue and it isnt a flash of brilliance.

Just watched the video. Pleasure. He climbs like Contador : ) Bobbbing, out the saddle, with ease and with many glances back at the beginning.
Yeh, he does and his attacking with real aggression and flair adds to that nod towards AC too. It'd be fascinating to see him in action on a huge Alpine or Pyrenean type of climb. All in good time I guess.

Looking not far off Britain's best chance at retaining the rainbow jersey. Early in the season yet though.

I couldn't believe how similar they were: almost identical in style.
Mmmmmm. Bertie banned on the 6th of Feb, meanwhile mysterious Unknown JTL appears to win the Tour de Med stage on 9th of Feb and appears unbeatable on steep climbs!

Has Berto had a Jacko?

  • 2 hour video also on CW news page.

In a nutshell 3 riders (one of them looks like Gerrans) away coming to the climb, Voeckler brings the peleton upto them then JTL attacks approx 1hr 35mins in to video

Simon Clark is the GreenEdge rider. Did the last 10km without being able to shift gear as his Di2 ran out of juice.

Cracking result but I can't help wondering what the cynics on here would have been saying if he were South American or Spanish! It will certainly ease the pressure his DS was feeling a few weeks back following the money that has been invested into the team. Hopefully they'll be moving up to pro conti soon.

I notice a barbed comment on twitter by cyclingfansanonymous re.teams competing without a bio passport at this level.

Think I'll wait to see if JTL can stay with anyone decent in a race they're actually targeting before digging out my suitcase of cynicism (or underpants of adoration) though.

    Anyone decent?
    Actually trying?

No wonder outsiders are not sure what to make of this sport with people like you around for Christ sake.

Respect to Clark I wouldn't have liked to ride the last 10k of that route on a fixie.
Prior to JTL coming to the front there is a different Greenedge rider off the front in what looks like Aus national bands - hence my Gerrans mention.

The last k m from the flamme rouge looks like it goes on for ever. Sat watching it wondering if JTL would have enough road left to attack let alone take the victory.
Despite the commentator's superlatives I do think JTl has singlehandedly ripped up the Entente Cordiale.

Gerrans was away with a couple of French riders, but they were brought back with about 15 or 20k to go. They were brought back, and that was when Tiernan-Locke gave his first bit of a dig.

Must be more hassle than it's worth this Di2.

People are always whinging about them going wrong.

You'd think they'd carry a spare battery in the team car.

I remember Greg Henderson tweeting about his battery going during a training ride, so I asked him how often he had to charge. It was towards the end of the year, he replied saying that he'd ridden all season without charging it. I think it's more a case of riders just forgetting that they're digital and not charging them, fine on a training bike, but you'd think it's the team mechanics who'd check often on race bikes.

    Quite.

Hardly Shimano's faulty the plebs using it don't maintain it properly!

Perhaps he is on the Juice. Or more likely having come from the same club as Jez Hunt; riding with Colin Lewis when you are young makes you 'kin nails.

"The season has started and it's disruptive to have a lot of speculation and distraction but what we've had at the moment is Dave Brailsford individually ignoring normal protocol and not communicating with John's manager Andrew McQuaid," McFarlane told Cyclingnews.

That statement is depressing in a number of ways.

Found the above article, but it has now been deleted from Cyclingnews...very strange!
  • CN tweeted:
"News: critical year for Endura's desire to reach new heights. Team director angered by alleged Team Sky approach..."

The link is now none existent. Strange they appear to have pulled the article but left the tweet

A word or two from a Team Sky lawyer I wouldn't wonder.
  • The same word they'll probably have with you after that reply. Expect to see it removed in the next few hours, with this reply remaining ;)
  • So did anyone manage to read the article while it was up? what was the full jist of it?
