There's a 76kg weight limit on the rims, and a 2 year life span, Alpines would be a more sensible 'all round' choice if he's not into racing.0

My rims were 286g and 290g IIRC, think Alpines are about 320g (and a chunk cheaper), so they'll still be c1350g. Hubs have been excellent, roll very well, and bearings are all still perfect.0

Nah, gave them to a friend who's better than me - the rims are notoriously hard to build, and Revolutions aren't the easiest to work with! He did say they were a bit of a swine!0

24.5lbs for my Giant XTC.Mainly middling spec with Reba forks,XT drivetrain,XT hubs with 717 rims, lightish Schwalbe Nobby Nic/Racing Ralph tyres.
Light but still able to take my 14st weight and a few jumps.
Should swap the wheels for something lighter, but never seem to get round to it.
Also ride an 18lb roadbike.2006 Giant XTC

Aah, see my winter road bike (with PowerTap, mudguards etc) is over 22lbs. Which seems a bit wrong. No idea what the Madone is, not weighed it in years!0
