2012 Metric Century Challenge

I'll be late uploading things this month. Racing the Crocodile Trophy which should give a few. Still will be a low month again.

Oh, and a 24hr MTB solo.

October: Not a good month but not bad either with 3 century rides. Wind,rain, social and business engagements not forgetting two weeks of head cold reduced my bike time. Nonetheless the league table is strangely motivating even though my real focus is on accumulated vertical gain. Sad, is it not?

Similarly bad month, lowest mileage overall for me all year in Oct. A bout of Labirynthitis put paid to much riding. Forced myself onto the bike todat and was rather glad I did...

...until I turned for home and hit the mother of all headwinds. 100k hard earnt today, my only metric this month.

I didn't manage to get out in August, so can't wait 'til Jan to start this all over again.

I'm done too: black ice just up the road with two cars in the ditch, a biting northerly whistling across the Vale of Belvoir and a pinch-flat two miles from home. Rarely has a cup of tea and a bowl of pasta been more welcome

Relieved to have Dec under my belt. On last long ride on 17th Nov, I injured my knee ( although I think it was because I played golf for the first time in 2 years the week before), and have had to be resting.
I knew it would come down to this last week if fit, and be at mercy of the weather.

So got 1 in today, and it felt great to be back out on the bike.
What a great sport cycling is. You realise it much more when you are not able to ride.
Golf clubs are going on e-bay.

I've not signed up for 2013. I failed before I even started in 2012 since I'd not recovered from a broken collar bone in Sept 2011. It's still not right and I'm due to have it plated this month, so I don't see me being able to do 100k in Feb.
