Doesn't fit into the Wolf In Sheep's Clothing metaphor though does it? It's more like an angry wolf in werewolf's togs with a knife up its back and a large banner in blood that shouts out "I'm gonna kill you very soon", and then does. RS200? Um - no ta. :)

    some soft porn...
I used to help out with a fellah who built engines and we often had twinky engines in, but I only ever went in one once and it was a bit quicker than my Mk1 1500 GL. When I had the 1600E a bloke at work had a tweaked Lotus equivalent and it really was sh!t off a shovel territory.

There was a MKII in the Lotus place round the corner here a couple of years ago, with a Mondeo 5 speed box, modern discs all round and injection instead of the two buckets that used to pour fuel down its neck. Neat car. Haven't seen it since.

Anyway. Back to lists of Metros, company cars and bikes. :)

    tis true!

i did once hear of an engineer creating a monster "Moggy" (Morris Minor). So the legend goes they mounted an aeroplane engine supposedly a Merlin (of Spitfire fame). the engine was that big the driver had to sit in the rear of the car

now that truly is a sheep in wolfs clothing

    * Fab car when it went - I had it a whole year, during which time it had so many faults - including an entire new engine - that it was only on the road for 5 months. Traded it in for a new Galaxy which (a) didn't make the kids motion sick or (b) break down. Ever.

B Plate Escort 1.6 Ghia (bought 4 years old) - Plush and quick
J Plate Metro GTa (bought new) - Fast, bit basic but folk kept crashing into it.
M plate Nissan Micra Super S (bought 10 months old) - Fast and had a good spec
S Plate Vectra 2.5 v6 SRI (Company car) - fast, and sounded fabulous
Y Plate Alfa 147 Selespeed (company car) paddle shift, hoot to drive, but was in and out of dealers for a variety of faults - glad it wasn't my money.

51 Plate Nissan Primera 1.8 SVE saloon - bought 10 months old. Fantastic car, easily takes 4 bikes and a family's worth of stuff for a week away. Excellent spec. The car is nearly 10 years old and I still have it.

Also have an early Toyota Yaris GLS - bought new, now 12 years old. That's been fab too.

  • Had a clio years ago but figured that since I was not using it enough it wasn't worth the tax I was paying for it.

I'm lucky in that I can walk, cycle or occasionally use public transport to get to everywhere I need to go. Whenever Ive needed to transport things in the past, such as TVs, dishwasher etc I've either got a friend to pick them up or a single day van hire covers it. Never looked back, never thought about buying a car again
