Something like 25 years of continuous Alfa ownership

In fact, MRS only ever owned one Alfa. He was given another every time it broke down.

    LMAO

I'd still be on the 164TS if that were the case. My brother owned it before and after me and he then sold it to a mutual friend - in the 100,000 miles we three owned it for, it had one £17 oil pressure switch (other than oil, brake pads etc) which I fitted. Fantastic car. The smart was the least reliable car I ever owned - had about 30 DIFFERENT faults - total POS.

Morris Ital 1.3 @ 17. It was passed around the family and it was my turn to have it.
Volkswagen Golf MkI (yellow, heavily tinted windows, 12" woofers X2, Pirelli alloys) @ 18. I loved that car. Written off on the North Circular when some Mormons crashed into me.
Morris Ital 1.3 @ 19. Back to the orange beast. Written off by me on my road in the wet. Going from front wheel drive to rear wheel drive was an expensive transition.
Vauxhall Astra 1.6 @ 22. Dirty horrible orangey/brown colour. Only memorable for the naughty things I got up to in it. Mainly in Sainsbury's car park. With young ladies.
Vauxhall Cavalier 1.8 SRi @ 25. Apparently, the only one in the world with a digital dashboard. Got rid of it after an iPed ran out into the road in front of me. No chance to stop in time so I didn't feel guilty, but I didn't like driving around with a head-shaped dent in the bonnet.
Honda Civic Coupé @ 27. Nothing special, but I really like it. I can drive it all day and still feel comfortable. I can carry 4 passengers and my bike can still fit in the boot. Fast enough for me to lose my licence and thats fast enough for me. I haven't driven it for two years but I don't want to get rid of it, so I'll be getting it back on the road sometime next year.

No exotica, but I still lust after a Mk III Mazda RX7.

    Peugeot 205 GTI 1.9
    TVR Griffith

'88 Mini 1000 @ 18, this car made me love Minis. Gave it to my sister when she turned 18
'94 Peugeot 106 Ralley @ 21, was working in a garage at the time, modifying cars. Nice car, fast and cornered really nicely. Crappy gearbox though. Traded it in when I bought my next car.
'98 Mini Cooper S (propper Mini, no Beamer) @ 25, if I had a garage I would still have this beauty. Dark grey metalic, black leather interior, minilite wheels with black centres and polished lips and a carbonfibre and stainless steel exhaust system (bit loud). Sold it last year when the wiring loom shorted. Didn't drive it on a daily basis anymore cos girlfriend works out of town and two cars are overkill when you only work 4 miles from home.
'04 Fiat Panda @ 30, cheap, roomish, cheap, and the gf loves it :D

Okay - 320 coupe at the mo, 325i, a hateful '98 Ford Escort, a hilarious Toyota Camry student death trap, MGB GT - which dissolved entirely in the rain one afternoon, and an 80's Fiat Panda, which I still use to mow the lawn.

I really want an Alfa 159 but I know I'd be disappointed after a couple of weeks.

S reg Vauxhall chevette 3 door estate, In Maroon with Canary Yellow Doors

I'm having trouble picturing that. Was it a factory paint job, or aftermarket?

Well when I first had it, it was all maroon. Then it was broken into and my stereo stolen. They buggered one of the locks doing it and it was cheaper to get new doors from breakers than new locks. So I fitted yellow doors as that was what they had. Odd thing I got a call from my dad saying he seen me in orpington but I wasn't there. Later reports indicted there was another one but it only had a yellow drivers door other door was still maroon.

Why? I love my 156. It's done over 100,000 miles and it still goes well. Did 2,500 miles going to Italy in summer. Got over 125mph on the autobahn on the way back 4 up with a boot full of stuff.
When the crank sensor failed a few people said "what do you expect it's Italian?" I then pointed out that it was a bosch part as fitted to VAG cars and BMWs. The Bosch numbers are even the same. I don't believe my car is any lessreliable than an equivalent BMW. But, it's a third of the value and better looking.
I grant you, it's rubbish as an estate car. The boot opening is tiny. But who cares, it sounds great.

1976 mg midget, first car at 18. Fell apart on me one day, tried to kill me on the A512.
    1988 mini 1litre
1987 mini I bought for the cost of its garage bill £35 then swapped same day for doors and an engine
1983 mini, 100 quid and I was ripped off. Wrote it off on a big potholes. ...

91 Alfa 33 S3 - the very best car that most people will never drive. Words can't describe the joy of driving that car. Owned for 12 years. Sadly scrapped last winter. Lives forever.

I wonder if there would have been quite so much Alfa love had this thread been started say 3-4 years ago.

Happy to let others (e.g. Streetcar) do the owning for me just now.

    .

Funny thing is that my current MiTo will probably rate as my least-loved of my Alfas. My 156 2.4JTD Veloce Wagon will rate as one of the better ones.

One of our 33s was an S3 - lovely car.

My Giulia GT race car is my favourite - its just so much fun to drive (loads of in-car race stuff on YouTube under my username). I loved my Spiders too and the Sud Ti QV was just brilliant to drive - persuaded neighbour to buy one as his race car.

Not a massive number but 1 or 2 goodies :
A good start - Escort Mexico MKII - got nicked.
RS2000MKII, standard it was too sensible so lowered it and installed a pair of twin 40's and rally cam to reduce the fuel economy. Super-sideways, lovely. Got nicked. Would love another now - either with a quick Pinto or, with lots of cash to play with a Cossie turbo motor.
    Strada 105TC - quick'ish and rusty.
Uno Turbo - quicker, still rusty.
    Clio 1.4RT - ok actually.
    Ibiza 1.4 - dull.
Honda CRX (Jap import). 1.6VTEC engine - slightly barking this, major powerband at something like 6500rpm, before that it was real slow then it's alter ego came out and it was a bit mental quick ! Think it had 140BHP.
Downwards then to a Volvo S40 (dull)
    Passat 2.0 20v, also dull.
Audi A4 1.9Tdi 130PS - great car, quick, very economical but after putting 10k miles on it the injectors started failing - near £3K to fix -px'd it for Citroen Picasso – still got this. Slow but actually good for it’s purpose as people/bike carrier.
I’d got a Jap import 1995 Subaru WRX then this was px’d for a 2003 Subaru WRX wagonwhich I still have.
