Can't believe I forgot to mention Mark Watson, seen both his last two tours and looking to go to his next one early in the new year.0

Priceless.
You win the obscure comic reference award. Admittedly - I used to watch the Red Green show every week. I also enjoyed the Tom Green show. And Trailer Park Boys.0 -

Armstrong & Miller and Mitchell & Webb have also done some excellent stuff but on balance agree that The Fast Show was in a league of its own. Hmm, you know, wasn't it? Marvellous.

Their comedy was pure genius and it doesn't matter how many times I see their stuff I can't help but laugh. Timeless.
+1
Marx Brothers anyone ?
Any decent dictionary of quotations usually has a crop of superb one-liners from Groucho in it.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Peter Cook. Without him it would have taken a lot longer for the likes of Chris Morris, Steve Coogan, Armando Iannucci and, er, Ricky Gervais to have appeared.0

Tim Vine - "Flag Hippo, Flag Hippo....." and his Marvelous Metronome (it never lets him down!!)0

Chris Morris, Ronnie Barker plenty of others I'm too lazy to write (read - too embarassed in case anyone flames me!).
I think I'm the only person in the UK to not find Morecombe and Wise funny though.0 -

Ronnie B. was an absolute genius - not just a great comic actor but a superb scriptwriter too.

Are you sure you don't mean the Four Candles sketch?
(Feel free to spin that one out as long as you wish)

He's always good at upsetting the establishment (even if it does take a repeat before they pick up on it). I used to enjoy Blue Jam, the only time I've listened to Radio 1 by choice in the last 20 years.0 -

Favourite Not the Nine O'clock News sketch is easily the infamous "darts" one;
