Help
I have a old pair of http://www.lumicycle.com/product/104/sysliion2/you-can-configure--your-own-halogen-2012-twin-system.html
These are the lumicycle halogen lights. Still going strong and very bright, but use the bottle cage for the battery
When I purchased these LED were like £400 plus and not a option
Now LED seems a option
I want my bottle cage back and fancy getting a LED bar mount or maybe helment mount.
So really what is the best £50 deal ? Is it these ? http://www.dealextreme.com/p/ultrafire-th-t60-ha-ii-xm-lt60-5-mode-1200-lumen-white-led-flashlight-with-strap-1-x-18650-57007
I was thinking of breaking the bottle open of the lumicycle battery and somehow making into a bag.
But quite fancy the idea of a LED. With the link from deal extreme above, how long does the battery last with those ulta fire cells ?
I found the link http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=17265285#17265285 and can buy the lot for £50. How long will this last on a ride ?
I do mostly single track MTB riding
Thanks in advance0 -

I got this took about 2/3 weeks to arrive v.good imo i'm using my magicshine 4 battery pack at the moment but seeing how chreap it was have ordered the new magicshine digital battery to go with it. The same light is listed at about £50 on ebay with battery pack and charger.Ribble Stealth

Yep, already have 2 magicshine packs, and two I made up myself0 -
Hi,
I'm new to all this and a bit bewildered tbh.
I think I'm going to go with one of these 2, is there any difference between the 2?

Advantage with this get everything at once

**Edit** Forgot to add will mainly be riding towpath and country lanes but might do the odd trail if I am brave enough. Will the above be suitable?
Thanks
Jim0 -
a common thing to do is have a wide angle flood on the bars and a narrow spot on your head.
But I think the spot in that link might be too tight? If you can adjust it then that's a good package.0 -

Cheers, but a bit too much for me, I don't want to spend much more than £50 in case they sit in a drawer for eternity0 -
You will be fine with any of the xml torch options discussed either in supers thread or the links in my Sig thread. If it gets more technical you can add a third light on the helmet or use one on the bars and one on the lid.0
-
I have a load of torches bought over the last few years, are any of the proper bike lights worth investing in? I was looking at Merlin and th Hope Vision 4 plus a district for the rear, but then, if the front isn't going to give me anything more than a couple of torches on the bars and a head torch is it really worth blowing what could be a decent winter hacks worth of wedge on?0
-
I don't think it is worth it at all, so much more can be had for so much less.0
-
So are those ultrafire lights better than the magicshine ones? I was looking at getting some of them, totted it up to be around £85 for one magicshine light set without a spare battery pack. The ultrafire ones certainly look cheaper.
Either way, I'm after a cheap but usable light set for the winter - it's my third year of university, and I think if I don't get some lights, I won't be riding my bike this winter!0 -
The lights with a pack are more convenient, but the packs tend to have rubbish cells in so don't last well. The single cell torches have the advantage of being more flexible. But ultimately you need more lights to get the run time. The torch option used to be cheaper but now its more expensive. Personally I prefer torches. 2 on the road bike on low or medium is more light than I could possibly need. Another 2 on the lid is enough for the most technical trails. 2 more on the bars and you've got 8 hour night enduros covered. Plus a couple of spare cells in the bag takes no space at all.0
-
I'm after something for the bars for night riding this winter, as I'll have the bike with me down at uni I'll be able to ride all winter and the evenings will be my best chance.
I've got a decent helmet mounted light, and was given a little blackburn flea a while back too which I feel will do me fine for the road. So what I'm really after is something that's suitable for using offroad, so probably something with a decent spread. My understanding of this stuff is hopeless.
Can I ask for the opinion on this from someone who knows something about lights.
Or any of these for that matter,
A
B
C
Or would the multiple torch option be a better route? I maybe have about £60 to play with if necessary, obviously the cheaper the better. I'm not expecting anything super duper amazing obviously, but when I do part with my hard earned I'd like it to go on something suitable/sensible.0 -
I would prob go for choices A or B, the one with the XML emitter. This is a newer emitter than the p7 and is more efficient . I think A and B are the same but one comes in red. If you read the specs it says rated to 1200 lumen but then says manufacturer rated 900 lumen max a bit confusing but I think they are the same.0
-
I agree p7 is a bit dated. But a perfectly good 7-800 lume led. I personally prefer single core less over the p7 mce options.0
-
last winter i picked up on eof the T6 Xml lights and a T6 ultrafire (502b), light on the bars and torch on the lid, plenty of light for off road techy trails, and i got the pair for under £50 on ebay, at the moment you can get one of the T6 Xml lights for just under £20 on ebay from china way if youve the patience to search a little for them,Timmo.

if you can strap one to the bars, could try this:

Right, looking for a batch of new batteries, and a second charger, and can't be arsed reading through 39 pages (shocker, I know.)
I don't mind waiting for delivery, so DX is fine by me, unless someone knows a place that has better quality stuff.
Are these batteries and charger ok, or are there better around?

I had the old ones before, and have mysteriously lost 3 of them (and a torch?!?), but fair enough, I'll give the blue ones a go this year.

Ultrafire and Trustfire batteries are pretty rubbish.
Try this guy on Ebay - he's a bit of a weirdo and a battery geek - knows his sh1t.

Also sells Xtar chargers which are about the best.I don't do smileys.

There is nothing wrong with the ones of 2.4 and 2.5 capacity - they last just about as much as they state. Are better with some Panasonic and Senybor, but they cost a lot more.0
-
-
I've used the Senybors and Yezl. Stuck with Senybors - £10 a pair isn't bad, and I am too impatient to wait for the slow boat from China.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2x-SenyBor-22 ... 43b284dab2
But I've also been conned by some fake Ultrafires which were old laptop batteries repackaged in blue stuff (not from Dealextreme, who are very kosher). They wouldn't even get to full beam.I don't do smileys.

Nope, they'd take the name of the male, so they'd just be super.
Do you think it's too soon to have this inane nonsense between us on this thread? I mean, it's only 38 pages young, it's probably too soon to derail it.0 -
39 actually but who's counting. I stopped at 40.I don't do smileys.
