Predictions.

I'm a little interested in predictions at the moment.
Playing around with the PTP figured when I can be bothered.
I also have a habit of making cast iron predictions about races and riders.
It's about time I called myself up on a big one.
I said Evans would never win a GT, let alone the Tour, and that he should focus on one-dayers.
I very much stand corrected.
Anyone else want to own up to spurious predictions that have been blown out of the water?

Pretty much all predictions I made have been blown out of the water. Anton to win the Vuelta was the biggy for me though. I was feverishly trying to convince my old man to have a bet on him, fortunately he didn't take my tip and likely will not any other in future based on that
He took great pleasure ripping my prediction apart each time Anton cracked.0 -
They were lots of people on here who said Wiggins would never be a capable Stage Racer... :P
I remember slagging off Geox by saying they would never show anything in a GT.0 -
I once said Cavendish would never amount to much.
And I was right, he's good at sprinting but that's hardly cycling.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -
My most recent was that Cav would never win this years worlds instead favouring Gilbert, Hushovd or Sagan.
Didn't mind being wrong though ;-)Kev

Exactly, this is it really.
We all love to make predictions, because, if you're right, you're a hero, and if you're wrong no-one will notice.
I intend to hold people (in jest) accountable for big cast iron predictions, to see if it improves the quality of them.0 -

With that in mind, another prediction I have made in the past is that Tony Martin will never come in the top ten of a GT.Twitter: @RichN950 -
It would be quicker to list the predictions i've made that have actually come true, most of them are complete tosh. Road racing is not a science, which is why we all love it (apart from Iain, everyone knows he hates cycling).
If you are looking for a prediction now i'd say Wiggins will podium in the TdF next year (if that route leak is true)."I have a lovely photo of a Camargue horse but will not post it now" (Frenchfighter - July 2013)0 -

Mine:
A Schleck will never win a grand tour0 -

British winner of the Tour and British winner of the Olympic RR in 2012. Gonna be a sterling year."That's it! You people have stood in my way long enough. I'm going to clown college! " - Homer0 -

Andy Schleck will win the TdF 2012, you heard it here first.0 -
Andy Schleck will never win a Pro Tour Stage race from this day forward.0

I predicted Cunego to win the TDF after his Giro win in 2004 so got that wrong.
Big prediction for next year is that Contador wins the Tour after escaping a ban..
Long term prediction is neither Schleck ever wins the Tour.If suffer we must, let's suffer on the heights. (Victor Hugo).0 -
Bertie will receive a 2 year ban and will never be the same rider after.0

To be fair. Iains Menchov cal has a massive get out clause in it "if he's on form"
What a way to wuss out! :P0 -
Thomas Voeckler will win the Tour de France in 2012.0

I think I said the same thing about Jakob Fuglsang after people were bigging him up after he was doing well in the first week of the Vuelta. It puzzles me why people rate him so highly.
I also think Pierre Rolland will flop pretty badly in the next 2/3 years.0 -

Emm... Andy Schleck will not look around for his brother in a race in 2012
....
Frank Schleck will not fall off and break something in 2012**************************************************

:O Twofold.
Terrible use of the word podium, and a big shout.
Anyone going to challenge?
I don't think it's that crazy a call, Backstedt won it so i'd say he could become an outsider for PR in the next few years."I have a lovely photo of a Camargue horse but will not post it now" (Frenchfighter - July 2013)0 -

No worse a use of the phrase podium than of your use of the phrase "a big shout" Rick0 -
