Sportive Signage

I live in rural Cheshire, and despite having taken part in a Polocini event earlier this year, am disgusted at the scale and extent of the problem.
Cheshire is an idyllic place to live and should remain as such.
I see no reason why irresponsible event organisers should be able to get away with such blatant abuse of the rural environment.
And to those who think this is a 'non-issue', how dare you expect people such as myself to clear up after those irresponsible enough to leave the countryside in such a state of depravation.
I simply do not think you understand the scale of the problem, or how long it has been going on for.
By any chance, do you read The Daily Mail or suffer from high blood pressure?0 -
Oh dear Philip, I think you might have missed my sarcastic tones.
PS I'm still blaming Wiggle.0 -

Saw this on the front page of today's paper.
When will this madness cease?

Stop the press... recently captured Colonel Gaddafi has been quoted as saying his atrocities against humanity were inspired by the evil Dr Polocini.
(This is a lie - Dr Polocini is a fictional character and is in no way associated with Polocini cycling events).0 -

How much do these signs cost? I'm thinking of getting a batch made up so I can be outraged at having to take them down and sell them back to Policini0

I live in Kent but work in Essex and to put things into perspective we have loads of signs on roundabouts here advertising various "DJ Happenings", which I presume are disco's where the "KIds" can "Get down" and "chillax". Whilst being a pretty chillaxified kinda housey guy myself ( I have Voodoo Ray on 12", original, y'know and have been guilty of Ravin' it up, as The Primal Screams might say) this epidemic of signage is undermining our whole way of life and must be stopped.
What about making the signs bio-degradable, so they disintegrate after 24 hours and just blow away on the merest puff of air ? Or maybe the last man on a ride (judged by appearance, weight and level of Velominati rules broken by self said rider) can be issued with a set of snips and a carrier bag and cut them all down on his/her way round ?
Or people, to qualify for a sportive must memorise the route, similar to the Knowledge London cabbies have to learn to get their ticket ? A trail of breadcrumbs maybe ?
I don't know what the answer is, I'm 100% sure of that fact. Between them these "DJ's" and "Sportive direktuers" (as I have heard them referred to) are ruining a handful of lamposts and public pathsigns in a handul of locations in the UK, which is really, extra double bad. Please end this misery or I will post again.
I don't mean to brag, I don't mean to boast, but I'm intercontinental when I eat French toast...0 -

I have in the past done "Routing" for Professional Cycle Races inc. the Milk Race and the Tour of Britain and I can't see why signs can't be taken down the same day as the event - they don't leave signs up for "Races" so why Sportives.DrLex wrote:0
