  • Mmmm, a photo-shoot jersey for a disappearing team and someone's gone to all that trouble. Sad really.

And it seems to have shrunk in the wash.
The one he wore on the podium was intended for Thor

  • Guessing the UCI didn't like this one either?

That was just an excuse, the colours actually ran in the wash.

Didn't Robert Millar turn up at the Nationals once with his own champs jersey so it would fit properly when he was presented with it on the podium. Now that's confidence!

If that's true that's very cool.

Think it's mentioned in Robert Moore's book.

That's what it say in 'In Search of Robert Millar'. IIRC, he got his mum to make it!

There's not much point in designing a fancy HTC WC jersey really is there - presumably Sky has something in the works....

Thats the reason I couldnt ever be a champion, my mum was pants at knitting and all the other cyclists would have laughed at me.

Vroomen is wasted is cycling. He would make a great traffic warden.

(While typing this, my HTC phone refused to acknowledged the existence of Vroomen and tried to change it to Froome :) )

has to be said, if I was a world champ I would be wearing the jersey EVERY time I went out on the bike 'need a pint of milk dear' 'rightho just putting on the bands cos I'm going out on my bike'

If I didn't get an official one I would get one from prendas or the like

  • I felt like asking for those two minutes of my life back. Normally Vroomen has much more interesting and relevant things to write about.

I was wondering though whether we are now going to see a lot more "world champions" riding round at weekends now...

    That didn't stop Sean Kelly.
  • .. but Cav tweeted about 11am this morning that his stripes kit hadn't arrived and that he would have to go out training in his normal kit.

Would have thought Adidas and Pinarello would have been more efficient than that

It's like five a side football on bicycles. It's crazy stuff. They have a World Cup. You can find highlights on You Tube

Turns out Vannieuwkerk (hero Sporza commentator. Even you guys will remember "Balen, we have a problem" when Canc attacks in Roubaix), was twice runner up in the Belgian nationals for that competition.

Not very keen on Cavendish's jersey. Think the bands sould go completely round the jersey. Still, he won't be wearing too much, Sky (or whoever it might be...) will hopefully have another design.

To be fair, he always seems to look like that. White is rarely flattering to anyone, even pro cyclists.

Can't blame him if he has been on the pies, think he's earnt it and he's got plenty of time to shift it before Milan San Remo comes around!

Given Sky's treatment of the British National Champs jersey don't hold your breath on that one...

To be fair, there's not an awful lot of scope for interesting design when it comes to the WC jersey as it has to hit the UCI's guidelines and at the end of the day is simply 5 coloured bands round a white jersey. Plus you have to fit your sponsors logo on it somewhere and somehow.

Personally I quite like what Sky did with the British champions jersey on Brad and Geraint, simple but effective.

One jersey that really needs binning is the Team GB jersey, hopefully they will have a new version for the 2012 Olympics.

I like the Team GB jersey. Always seems to be different to the traditional national jerseys you see.

Have wanted to buy one but thought I'd look like a plonker init :P
