Montevideoguy wrote:Good stuff. Now... what apps are worth getting for this then? I've got all the ones I used on Android (Facebook, Twitter, Shazam, etc) so I've not lost out on anything (though I do miss the native Gmail app).
Anything else worth getting app wise?0 -

Well said..
Especially when you've been driving BMW's/VW's for over 30 years, nothing will motivate you to go the cheaper / lesser alternative
You can't seriously be putting VW on the same level as BMW?!
You're so right! VW's are far superior.
That daily-mash article is brilliant, I've forwarded it to a few friends.

Geniues article,
The reliable trash spouted by apple fans is comedy!
Its premium build system that works slightly differently and isn't as widely supported but close thats all... 7 Runs perfectly and so does Linux systems, most of the internals of a MAc ar very much the same hence why you can duel boot though usually apples come underpowered in the graphics card areas which as a gamer puts them off my list pretty sharp.
What your paying for is a premium brand image, shiny aluminium and some design that is a matter of opinion if you like it more or not.
I haven't seen a logical argument here yet that supports them beyond being just another peice of equipment that carries a slight premium in price which is fine.
But the fan boys will cream on youur glasses and tell you other wise and the stable bit, don't you rmemeber what happened last year? Some apple boy in the press says Apple don't suffer from viruses like windows, the following week lots of reports of Mac systems being hacked and so on. they are a small market niche in comparison to microsoft sales, so of course everyone will attack the most common, its the easiest way to information steal!0 -
HELP ME!!
Mrs 13 is getting me an Ipad2 for my birthday! Don't really want one, would rather put the money into my next bike.
How can i let her know that i don't want it without a) p*ssing her off royally and b) not having to leave her in a ditch with her head facing backwardsLoving life in rural SW France

I have a "little" Windows box myself and in 3 years it's never had a virus, plus it has zero AV or anti malware utilities loaded.
Malware and virus infection comes down to users, not the OS. If you click on an .EXE or .PKG without at least thinking about it, you deserve to be infected.
The fundamental difference between Windows and UX based OSes is the fact that Windows is very susceptible to RootKit exploits that take advantage of Kernel based flaws. The numbers speak for themselves and I wonder if anyone ever bothers to actually take the time to read the contents of Microsoft's Tuesday updates. Many of them are "Malicious Software Removal Tools", hence port and kernel based exploits through the OS being insecure when shipped.
Also MS ActiveX is an issue as it allows files to be executed within the browser. The Java standard doesn't allow any executable or runable files via the browser. This is why 3rd party browsers like Mozilla FF and Google's Chrome are better options but not quite as "dumb ass" user friendly as IE
MS are tightening up the next release of Explorer even to the point that it's been rumoured that they will not be allowing 3rd party plugins, including Flash and are standardising on HTML 5.5. Not surprising seeing as Adobe have been at the root of many security flaws and exploits across many OS platforms.
The game will always be on, MS will patch and the geeks will exploit. The same can be said for other OSes too.0 -
Indeed, and people who create malicous tools will always focus on the most profitble platform to exploite, and since most businesses run windows networks so on, the holes will always be found fastest that way.
There will always be more malware aimed at the market leader, and market followers will always use that as a reason to claim there is better its silly0 -
I disagree, it's the age old Microsoft "ship then fix it" mindset. That's been happening from Windows 95 onwards, MS has never shipped a"new" Windows release without security updates being needed within two weeks of the said release.
We call it "mass production" as any security related delays of a new OS release will cost MS and their OEM partners millions0 -
Support that?
Because if you want when i get home will go find the articles when apple platform got hacked to hell alst year after claiming it was more secure...0 -
But more importantly is our poor lad being bought an I-pad 2....
How do you get out of that!!! i hate all the silly touchpad thingies... silly0 -
As has been said, it's a numbers game. Windows gets more crap directed at it than Mac, Mac gets more crap directed at it than Linux. It doesn't make one system better than another... just means you have to watch yourself more on Windows.
That said, the biggest cause of infections on computers is human stupidity...and that is cross-platform.Formally known as Coatbridgeguy0 -
And as for tablets. Looking to get myself a 7 inch (or thereabouts) tablet in the next few months. Going to wait until Win 8 launches before getting anything biggerFormally known as Coatbridgeguy0

Apples were not hacked to hell last year, what happened was a nice little bit of Eastern European code told x86 Mac users that they had a virus and needed to install this MacDefender software.
Of course, they, the uninformed, stupid and gullible clicked, installed and got infected. Like Montevideoguy said, it's cross platform human stupidity.
However for some strange reason Thewaylander cannot seem to get his head out of his ass on using almost every opportunity on emphasising on how much he hates all things Apple and seems to subtly portray an equal resentment of those that use them.0 -

Either that or you are being a normal apple/BMW/Audi user and assuming what i said instead of actually reading it... then resorts to being offensive and rude and showing a complete lack of true common sense0 -
