Have you order the Volagi yet? :-)

Not yet - I'm waiting on a price for shipping direct from Volagi. I've also asked whether they will fit Di2 (if I'm going to push the boat out....). I do have a begrudging OK from Mrs MRS* for the purchase too. I'm wondering whether it's easier just to bite the bullet and have it shipped direct rather than have my bro bring one over. That plan would mean the purchase of a bike box (£££££) plus potential airline fees (he normally flies ultra cheap) and getting the thing shipped up to the Highlands (which isn't part of the UK or plant Earth as far as most couriers are concerned). By the time that's all factored in, I might just be better bending over and paying HMRC.

  • I have spoken to them but no reply at the moment.

A dealer in Fort Worth has indicated as long as no UK distributor he would ship one to the UK.

I have quite good contacts at Freight forwarders if you wanted me to get a price to your nearest container port.

As they would be flat packed it shouldn't be that much.

I have indicated I might multi buy and if poss ex their supplier

Well keep me posted then cos that would be great - thanks. I have no idea which is my nearest container port though.

  • Is CX frame spaced for 130 or 135mm rear wheel?

    Thanks.

  • I have another question for CX Comp owners. Can´t find forks mudguard eyelets on pictures, but spec says it is fully mudguard compatible?

    Yep, got mudguard holes.

I'll be changing the tyres either tonight or tomorrow, so I'll try to remember to measure the spacing.

  • I looked 360´ view on Wiggle´ s site. Zoomed it in and out, but no eyelets on fork.

Sorry if I misunderstood something, but I thought this thread is for all Boardman CX models (Comp; Team; Pro). I meant Comp, not Team.

No worries - the only model available in he UK is the team though - so most of us are going to be of limited help on most of the other models

  • Ok, didn´t know that.
I want to buy myself a bad weather bike and was looking towards CX Comp, rather than Team, because of price and bottom bracket. Also I´m more of a "Shimano man". Previous road bike had 105 and current has Ultegra.
On CX Comp´s spec are mentioned FSA cartridge BB. Does this mean this type of BB

Can't argue with Shimano - I converted my Team to 105 and it's a big improvement.

You're probably best off emailing Wiggle/Halfords/Boardman to answer the mudguard question on the Comp.

I've just measured the rear on my Team CX and it's 135mm.

    As for the BB? http://www.boardmanbikes.com/cx/cx_comp.html
"FSA Vero Compact". Which is this: http://www.fullspeedahead.com/products/ ... t-Crankset
Which takes a square taper BB, rather than the external one you linked to.

I emailed Wiggle about mudguard eyelets and got answer that neither Comp or Team does not have eyelets on fork. Then I send them pictures from this thread. They said that Halfords will often have different specs to those bikes we have available.
Is it possible that Boardman produces differently configured bikes for different distributors?
Unfortunately Halfords are unable to deliver to non-UK destinations.

  • Out of interest (and apologies if this has been asked before) but has anyone else been having problems with frozen rear brake cables of late?

It appears that water is getting trapped in the cable outer and then with the cold weather its freezing. Just me?

No problems here. I used to have this issue on the V-brakes on my MTB and have had the same thing on my current MTB's gears (albeit at -10C)

  • Hi, Does anyone have any suggestions on a good bar extension for mounting lights on? I've got a new higher powered light from Halfords but there isn't enough room to mount it on the bar between the stem and the cable coming out of the centre-pull brakes (which are useful in traffic so I wouldn't want to get rid of them even if I did know how to).

I asked in Halfords and the guy (who was actually quite good) had a look through their catalog but could only see one carbon fibre bracket that mounts on the clamp that fixes the handlebars to the stem but it was £50. He suggested I search on google but whatever I try I can't seem to find anything remotely similar.

  • Don't talk to me about Halfords. They STILL don't have the rear mech hangers. Last Wednesday they said they'd be here by Thursday - went in on Saturday: no sign of them! 7 weeks and counting

Tell me about it. Originally went through C2W in Jan last year and intended to get the 2010 ProCX but after several weeks of what can only be described as faffing around they only succeeded in locating a small model which was too small. At that point the 2011 Boardman models hadn't been released so they agreed I could choose another equivalent CX bike and eventually settled on a Kona Honky Inc. Several months (and a driving disqualification on medical grounds) later they admitted they were unable to get this either so I settled on the 2011 TeamCX (which to be fair was better for me because of the disk brakes) which finally turned up in June!

I don't know, I don't use it, just knew that Topeak made one.

  • I used to have one, it worked OK. The only thing I remember it lacking was a quick release, would have been nice to flick a lever and have the extension come straight off rather than using an allen key.

do all boardmans have specific rear mech hangers? i had to order one off the internet (have no idea what the site was..sorry) for my hybrid when i did the rear wheel in last year...google is thy friend?

Dunno - the CX hanger seems to be unique to the CX. There's a aftermarket version available (see further up the thread) though hard to find and expensive. I got a replacement direct from Boardman by contacting them but Halfords should be able to supply spares in less than 7 weeks - after all, it's about the only part on the entire frame that's unique and that you couldn't replace with a generic part.

I Just fitted one of these to my CX - there is plenty of strap to go round the stem so you don't need to find a gap on the bars.
  • Can anyone offer me some advise please?

I currently have a boardman hybrid comp 2010 which I brought 2nd had but know its had at least 3 owners before me.
It's in ok condition but not perfect.

My employer has just signed up for the cycle 2 work scheme and Im considering selling the hybid and getting the boardman cx.

I use my bike for commuting on a 20 mile round trip. I've never had a bike with drop bars but don't see a problem with me getting used to it

Do you think this is an advisable upgrade or just a waste of money?
