Never tried it before and saw some in the shops this morning so I bought some to see what it's like.

Not on the bike today so I'm a bit scared to try it in case I spend the afternoon buzzing my t**ts off and dancing to happy hardcore on youtube.

I also somehow have got the song Jolene (by Dolly Parton) in my head and keep singing "soreen, soreen, soreeeeeen, soreen"

it's good stuff. Not sure it gives me a buzz but certainly fills me up for a long ride.

It's great; I have it for breakfast 1 every morning.

My little daughter is also partial to it and has been known to climb inside the kitchen cupboard whilst shouting 'CAKE!' in order to lay her hands on it. I'm more than happy that she thinks soreen is cake since it might keep her off sweets and chocolate for a little while longer......

Not just me then! I knew I wasn't weird...

I have to either buy it last minute or tuck it away somewhere so it doesn't, er, disappear before my trips.

They're 55p a loaf in Lidl, by the way. Much better than ASDA et al's £1.00 a pop.

  • I'm gonna have to get some, been a while since I ate the stuff, used to be one of my regular recovery foods, from my old sporting days doing other stuff.

Interesting to see Costco do it, will have to look out for it the next time we pay the lace a visit.

I have one of the pre-sliced loaves on my desk at all times - lasts about 2 days. Nom.

I could stop eating it any time I wanted, I just choose not to.

Wow so much fuss over fruity bread... I never realised it was considered to be so special; It's always been a normal feature of our food cupboard at home...

It's always just been a snack/desert for me!

Have you read the thread in the road beginners forum. I think cyclists must be keeping Soreen going

Will need to try it myself now.

'tis good stuff - it's my staple food for any kind of distance cycling. The fact that a loaf doesn't last a day in my house has nothing to do with me. Honest.

(Oh and they do XL size loaves as well now.... just saying)

Don't kid yourself, it's long been a stapel diet of walkers and climbers too! It survives being shoved in and out of backpacks extremely well!

True. It's easier to eat once compressed in a backpack down to the size of a 50 pence piece ;)

extra-marital affair I can probably manage - actual nuptials might be a tad tricky for me at the moment.

At what point did malt loaf start being called Soreen?

I've only ever known it as malt loaf :(

Nope - her Dolce Elite is gathering dust since baba came along. She even said the "H" word the other day... words were had.
