    50+ mph down Kop Hill

    Oh yes, much fun :D

Hope your brakes work well for the T junction at the bottom

Ironically, the most danger I've ever been in going down there was from a couple of cyclists who took a look up the hill, thought "nah, too hard" and turned around, despite seeing me hurtling towards them. Stupid cnuts got the full benefit of my words of wisdom after...

It's just a hill. Get over it.

I don't really understand competing for max speed as it's just a measure of balls/death wish, not skill or fitness.
you might [possibly] have a better inate ability to ride up a hill

    That's highly unlikely :D

I might be able to get down it better than you due to my death wish and unfeasibly large nads. Maybe.

    That's rather more likely

83kph here in Barbaria. Another time on the same hill, some dumb biitch in her car thought it would have been a good idea to overtake me just as I was about to hit peak speed. What really piissed me off was that she trundled down the hill at little more than 70kph, costing me 0.005kph on my overall avg speed.

This is the last time, I'll be doing this for a while.
No idea why it went into what it did but luckily the up bit came not a bit too soon.

On the Etape Pennines in 2013, I got to over 50mph, I weigh 53kg, I did NOT want to be so fast, but as there were people all around me, I could not brake. I do not want to go so fast again. Usually I am a metric woman and I enjoy 55-60kph, I do not like faster, especially around the hairpins - terrifying!
I have often wondered if I could be a better (than my current lousy) descender if I weighed more.

Heavy gets you faster acceleration on a descent and a higher terminal velocity. However it also means your brakes and tyres have more work to do slowing you down and maintaining grip. On a descent with lots of bends too much weight is a problem.

Managed 48mph coming down Dunmail raise towards Grasmere last week - had a tailwind as well. I think it helped my average speed for the ride as I'd absolutely crawled round the rest of it.
