I don't know how I'm going to be able to remove the CORE decal from the frame as it looks like it's painted on rather than a sticker .

nail varnish remover with a microfibre cloth is a good way to do it,

its worked for me in the past, not bought any stickers in the past but will be soon for a banshee scream frame i've stripped of paint, just gonna find a good vinyl graphics place.

They Decals are probably put on and then a layer of lacquer is applied over the top o you can't remove it without stripping the lacquer off. Just put the new decal over the top.

It won't look right with the writing style I wanted. Ahh well.

What about heat to take it off?

dafont looks pretty good, if you can bring yourself to do it scratch a little bit of the frame under the BB to see if its polished or lacquered, as its a place which no one will see and will always be a place that gets hit by stones etc.

I scratched the bottom bracket and I still can't tell. I don't think it's lacquered.

I'm going to email Genesis and see what they say.

if lacquered then a clear coat should flake away, but an email is a good idea to make sure

Still no reply to my email.

There is no flaking when I scratch it, just looks like I'm scratching metal really.

My decals came today they look good... we'll see what they look like on soon enough

Can you feel the edge of sticker, i.e can you get a fingernail underneath it. If so then just polished.

no i'm sure its a polished metal frame and the core has been painted on. The metal I scratched on the bottom bracket didn't flake it just scratched.

Yes I think so, I'm new to bikes so I wasn't to sure.

The instructions for this bike suck for the folks. I have everything else detailing the gearing, breaks etc but nothing for the folks. All I have to go on is the review and what the website says about them, it's disappointing really. I'm going to email Genesis (even though they didn't respond to my first email) and Irvinecycles and ask for some sort of instructions for them.

This is what bikeradar review had to say about it.

"Forming an integral part of the rigid front end, the RockShox Recon Gold fork provides 120mm (4.7in) of coil sprung travel, though lighter riders may find the stock spring a tad firm. Making the most of all that rock-swallowing ability, the tapered steerer tube and 20mm Maxle add noticeable steering precision with minimal weight penalty."

they are coil and air, you can fit different springs to suit your weight and then use the air valve to fine tune the ride.

Cheers for the clarification... how come at the top of the review it says it's not air then?

Does it mean full air rather than single with coil springs?

you can get either just coil or just air forks or a coil with air adjustability.
If it isair and coil you should have an air valve under the top left fork cap and maybe one on the bottom of the left leg, and a sticker on the left leg stating + and - air pressures.

Bottom left doesn't have air + and - sticker or something that looks like a valve, just a nut and alan key hole
the top left cap is tunable with and arrow pointing to a + and pre load written on it

rebound is on the bottom right and a pic of a tortoise and hair on it, I presume slow/fast
And compression with a lock on it on the top right

I'm presuming it's just a coil sprung model.

I still haven't been able to ride the bike yet cos of my dam foot! lol So frustrating. I went for a long walk yesterday it was good, doesn't hurt to much today so going to ride it tomorrow after the gym!

yep just a coil then, i'm surprised there is not more in the manual.
try the preload half way to start with with rebound the same then just fine tune to find the right balance.
Hope the foot works out soon you got to ride the bike soon dude.

Is it still possible to fit a chain stay protector, considering the way the cable is routed?

I'm not sure I've never used one but I have taken some pics for you so you can see weather or not you can. I hope they are ok.

Tride to show the clearance betwean the frame and the cable, it's only about 5mm

You can if you get a neoprene one, just have to do a bit of creative cut and shut to get round the cable stop, shift down to the smallest cog then slip the cable out of the stop, then cut a small hole in the protector to fit over the cable stop.
