Why is TV continuing to ride such a stupidly huge gear?
Whe you are on the limit, riding a lower gear has a higher 'cost' in terms of oxygen demand and bio-mechanical efficiency.

Look at the old-school Tours (pre Epo) and you will see that it was pretty standard to climb in a bigger gear then many riders use nowadays.
    Perfect explanation.
It often suprises me that back in the days of Coppi, and even Merckx, 42 x 21 was seen as being a really low gear, and if you had to use 42 x 23, it meant you had blown. Back in the real old days when the riders used single gears and the passes weren't even surfaced, they climbed on even bigger gears!

I still think Frank is in the box seat here. he wast dropped early on. he chose to drop back imo

That's the contrast between him and TV, very early on Frank decided it was too much too soon and now look where they both are.

Trying to look for a positive angle on Voeckler's collapse, at least it encourages me to believe that his performance in the Tour this year has been 'authentic', if you get my drift.

Cav needs to fly down the hill if the cut off is only 18 minutes and they're 12 minutes down already.
    Any ideas where Rojas is?

  • yesterday i missed stage due to brother's graduation and thought i missed the best stage in years. this is even better.

I think andy will not win today - worked to hard too early. I fades very quickly when he loses energy.

He's too good to drag anywhere. And all the other 'contenders' have gone, up the road or down!

All to come together at the bottom of the Alpe?

    Who will then attack?
Schleks need more time on Evans.
Evans needs to pick up a little time on the Schleks.
    Contador needs time on everyone.

Going to be a massive last hour!
