I guess this realisation of failure, makes them troll the Beginners section of a cycling forum to prove to the world that they are far superior to at least one crowd of people, namely Sportives riders.. LOL
can you not see past your air of pretensiousness that the wannabees are you lot who wannabee like the tour pros but have the bike and 10% of the talent necessary.
why does snobbishness and looking down on others have to exist within cycling clubs, its pathetic.
A. I don't look down on anyone. I enjoy riding and also enjoy a bit of friendly competition. Nothing more, nothing less.
B. Who said I don't race or don't intend racing.
Think most people know where they exist within the food chain. But is does seem that a 'select few' really look down on people lower in the chain.
Mr T .. love the food chain. Especially as someone who's doing their 1st tri next weekSimon0 -

Damn right. Theres a whole food chain:
Superstars > Top Pros > Rubbish Pros > Continental Pros > Domestic Pros > Top Amateurs > Half-decent amateurs > 3rd cats > 4th cats > sportive riders > skinny inactive people > fat inactive people > triathletes > people who are confined to a bed because they're so fat
As long as you can feel superior to someone, its okay.
Got you sussed, then. Can't work out if your posts are tongue in cheek, trolling or just a bit of a nob ?0 -

Indeed, compared to sub55 my trolling skills pale into insignificance. Look how angry he's made you, having to resort to personal insults. Rule 723 of the internet - if you have to resort to personal insults, you've lost.0 -

. is it really as you suggest for wannabe racers? or perhaps it's a way of riding socially with other people and enjoying the challenge. Perhaps it's narrow minded attitudes like this that put people who are interested in racing, off it altogether. or perhaps consider this..not everybody wants to race..hey what a new concept that isColnago..............The name on the worlds finest bikes0 -

Then why not turn up with a bunch of mates on any other day, and complete the course for free? Why not turn up at your local Sunday club run, for free?0 -

I do turn up for my club run on a sunday, and although i personally don't ride sportives, i do ride audax's. some of you guys needs to get over yourselves..it's fun. meeting lots of different people and riding on routes you would not normally ride...funnily enough most people don't have 200 mates that they can ride with..so accept that whatever chose to ride in whether a sportive or race, obviously gives you what you need from cycling..why does it always have to be competative?Colnago..............The name on the worlds finest bikes0 -

identifying somebody who holds themselves in their own high esteem and downgrades sportive riders and enthusiasts to joke status is not a personal insult mate. its standing up for cycling enthuiasts who are being talked down to and rubbished by a pretentious fellow cyclist who seems himself as their much superior.
a personal insult is entirely different.
cos rider a sets their ar$e on a bike and does something different to rider b, it doesnt give them a right to feel superior.
capiche ?

no mate, got better things to do with my life than sit here 24 hours day with a laptop on my knee waiting for you to post.
If you must know , spent the last couple of days working late to finish a contract ,that i promised i would have finished by this weekend and i got paid for it ,so theres a bonus.
today , spent a pleasant day out with my wife and possibly get on my bike for a few hours later on. just enough to keep my legs turning for my next audax, which is next weekend. all very non competitive you see.constantly reavalueating the situation and altering the perceived parameters accordingly0 -

I only wish that had mutt had a face like a red pepper showing a deep sense of shame and a thought bubble with " I really shouldnt have posted those shameful, elitist, pretentious ,putting others rider down , full of my own self importance and grandiose and blowing my own trumpet comments on bike radar "
Unfortunately there was no image like that :roll:0 -
