I wonder why he prefers anonymity.

The reasons are stated on the blog. He / she has a full time job and doesn't want his / her employer to know about it.

I'm still voting for a lawyer.

Has to be in IT. You can't sit at work playing on a computer all day producing nothing of benefit for the business ....

Unless you work in IT

Quite pally with vaughters, comments on American cycling a fair amount, I'm pretty sure I've seen a few americanisms in their writing too.
He spells colour with a u though.

whoever he is and excluding the typos, he's one of the best writers on cycling on the web. Happy that he gets credit for an excellent blog.
  • My guess would be Dutch.

I assumed he was English as he doesn't use 'merican spellings.

Just a thought, has anyone asked him or is it a secret? Only just started reading his stuff.

    He's British.

I'd guess in finance or law.

    @inrng

I think he's the best english language writer about cycling at the moment.

Based on what's been said I'd say you've found Inner Ring right here...

And I agree, best English read available at the moment.

    Who are INRNG?

Different style and sloppy punctuation in recent write ups. Must have started to hire copy or ghost writers to bulk out site content.

I don't think he's mother tongue English - his phrasing isn't quite right, not quite 'natural'. Which isn't to say his English isn't tremendous. My instinct is that his first language is one of the romance languages, he reminds me of my high level students when I taught English in Italy.

He said he's from the UK at one point. He lives in France or Monaco though, so perhaps that's explains the phrasing.

I still maintain he is Kleber.

    Despite the denials.

I'm with the Kleber theory. The website expanding and him disappearing from the orum more or less coincided

It seems very plausible. Which leads us to the question - who was Kleber? (Did you ever actually know?)

I wasn't around much when Kleber was posting, but having read through some of his posts I think I might be on board with that theory too.

No, did ask him privately a few times and he wasn't forthcoming.

But I know he lived around the Nice area sometimes, certainly knew people involved in some of the French teams. Knew Cuddly Bob from a previous existence.

I agree. Very similar matter of fact writing style, both have good knowledge of that part of the Alps and as you pointed out, the INRNG site took off when Kleber stopped posting.

His first name is known - it's one of those names that could be English or Euro.

Do we have to turn another thread into a Wiggins discussion?

It's just a way of writing. I do it myself, using 'we' as a general collective cycling people (or whatever), rather than anything specifically related to me.

I know what your saying, it would explain the odd not quite English, not quite American spelling/grammar though.
