Who is Inner Ring?

This blog and cycling inquisition http://www.cyclinginquisition.com/ have been my first ports of call for interesting articles and points of view on cycling for ages now. Both very good reads with differing styles.0

Big fan of the inquisition - some great articles on there and I love the Colombian stuff!0 -
I don't think Inner Ring's first name is any great secret. He's mentioned his anonymity is not because he's an insider but as he works on his blog during his work hours so he'd rather keep a low profile.
Shame Kleber has gone - some great info from him. Like Inner Ring he also had good knowledge of the Swiss Alps.0 -
I agree about Inner Ring being more of a fan than anything else. He clearly enjoys the sport as well as being informed.0

I think he is a lawyer by trade.
Wish the BBC would do something sensible like sign him to write a blog for the BBC website i.e. simply republishing inner ring.0 -

The problem with doing that is that he'd lose some of the freedom he has now as an "independent" blogger (yes, I know he has a few ads, but it can't be a big money spinner).
They'd want a lot more control over content, and anything contentious or potentially libellous would be removed as lawyers are far more likely to go after a big corporation with lots of money than they are some unknown guy posting from his bedroom.
He's great as he is."I have a lovely photo of a Camargue horse but will not post it now" (Frenchfighter - July 2013)0 -

His writing is excellent, but there are quite a few poorly formed sentences that creep into the articles.
Often there is very subtle and nuanced usage of English which I'd expect from someone whose first language is English, but then sometimes clumsily poor syntax or verb tenses - looks to me like it's an intent to confuse or throw off the scent...
Sometimes it's written in English-English, sometimes Australian - but I don't think he's American
Often UCI figures quoted are in Swiss Francs, which he sometimes converts to EUR, sometimes USD or GBP or AUD...0 -
He said at one point he's English I believe.
I reckon he's a finance guy.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -
Whoever he or she is, they use the construction 'if [fact], [attenuating fact]' wayyy too much. E.g. "If it’s sad this race isn’t the finale any more, it was good to see a lot of big names at the start". It's mildly annoying. :x1968, human content on bitumen.0

I'm sure he's American (assuming 'he') but I can't remember why I think that. I wonder why he prefers anonymity.0

The reasons are stated on the blog. He / she has a full time job and doesn't want his / her employer to know about it.
I'm still voting for a lawyer.0 -
I know said person. Said person is very nice.0

Some dodgy spelling recently - 'one' when it should have been 'won' for instance
I reckon it's someone using voice-recognition software rather than typing the blog0 -
I think it's pretty obvious that Banksy is Inrng.0

No idea, but LeisterLad is right about St. Ives. I must take my folder next time.0 -

Gotta admit I felt inrng was a non-native English speaker going by his/her syntax.0

I'm pretty sure I read him say he was happy for people to correct his spelling and grammar as English is not his first language.
(forgive the assumption Inner Ring is male, but if they were female I think they'd comment on women's cycling more often)
I'd just like to add the Inner Ring blog is excellent, frequently brilliant. It's only a bit of sport, Mun. Relax and enjoy the racing.0 -
I think inrring is American living in France non? That's the impression I got anyway.
Quite pally with vaughters, comments on American cycling a fair amount, I'm pretty sure I've seen a few americanisms in their writing too.
I vaguely remember seeing them mention they welcome grammar corrections but merely because typos happen and they write the blog in between work commitments so it's rushed at times.0
