Racing is my big one for next year. Joining a club was on last years list for this year which I've done. If I race next year then no doubt there will be another set of goals to be set. As for finishing in the bunch, I'll be pleased just finish. :o

Last year I finally took part in a TT which was objective #1.

That has now moved to a target of a 24 min 10. So far managed 25:58 on a not particularly fast night. Lot of work to do but a good stretch target.

Last night, took part in my first circuit race so that was another box ticked. Now need to start finishing in the bunch.

To find a cute as f**k french wife, who is a better rider than I am, so I can just sit on her wheel all day and enjoy the view.

Maybe add the Grossglockner, Mt Etna, Stelvio and other epic climbs to the list...

I want to get back under an hour for the Richmond Park challenge.

I also want to make it up a lot of mountains this year in the Alps and Pyranees. I've never done the Tourmalet and I fancy that. But since I'm just back on the bike after two years off, I think it'll be tough.

    A 100 mile road ride.
Ride every trail centre in the UK in one trip (just the top 50 from the MBUK guide).
Become a pro and get paid to ride.

Plus anything ridiculous anybody ever suggests to me.

New to road bikes so my first goals are simple enough:

    - average 20 mph over 10 miles (firstly somewhere flat then gradually add a sprinkling of hills)

    - do 100 miles in one sitting

    - do over 30 and then over 35 on the flat and over 50 down a hill (only got bike comp yesterday so not sure how easy this is...)

    - cycle to places I would usually drive over summer

    - find someone to ride with back in wiltshire

    - one day be good enough to enter a competition.

    2011:
    -10000 miles (almost 5000 now)
    -12 statute centuries (7)
-52 metric centuries (28 ), with at least one in each month :)
-I had a goal of 30+kph for a metric century, but I already did that one, so maybe a 20+mph metric, or a 30+kph statute.

    future:
    -stelvio, ventoux, etc.
    -a 5000m pass
-I've been thinking about PBP 2015

Main one I'm working up to is a 100 mile day. Only recently got to the stage of doing back to back 50+ mile days without feeling particularily tired so still a bit to go yet.

My current longer term goal is a 19 minute ten, I bagged my 20 earlier this season with 20'07 so I'd like to think on a good day/ course combo a 19 is in there.
I'd like a top 30 in the national hill climb and to top 3 in the 40's age goup.

I have this romantic idea of riding round the world like Mark Beaumont but I don't think that will ever happen.

Win a spring classic, although seeing how the pros tail off quickly as they approach 40, I may have missed the boat on this one.

Alp D'huez and Mont Ventoux . Predictable I know, but it's what I want to do. Two guys I work with did Alp D'huez 2 years ago and I'm determined to do it as well. And Ventoux? Just inspired to do it after watching a recent documentary on Tom Simpson.

Mine is to do what a fella I met recently does.

He's recently retired at 51 and spends his time cycling with mates and planning and organising their next week long trip over in Europe for a bunch of 20 or so.

They're not a club, just a load of friends who pitch in and have a 'boys' week cycling, staying in nice hotels and enjoying good food and wine, nothing too serious but they do clock up a respectable amount of miles each day. They have a new jersey designed for each trip with a bit of local sponsorship and have a bloody good laugh.

    That's what I wanna do!

this might sound daft but if you can do 50 then you can do 100. Set aside a full day, take a mate with you and get on with it. You'll be tired at the end but Target achieved. Seriously, just go for it!

Build my own tourer (as in, construct my own frame) and do an international tour on it.
Ride the Great Divide (not road bike I know but still...)
Get over 50 mph (fastest ever is 47.5 - so close!)
    Get over 60 mph

I did 105 miles over a weekend recently and arrived at the half-way point at about noon on the first day. If I hadn't had a hotel booked for the night I'd have probably just went for it and gone home. That was on a loaded tourer as well, given my road bike would have been perhaps 20lbs lighter then it'd have been easier.

n+1 is the ideal number of bicycles a person should own, where 'n' is the number of bicycles they currently possess...
