Ture, but you clearly understood what I meant, and didn't refute my thoughts, I can only assume that one of them is correct.Science adjusts it’s beliefs based on what’s observed.

Will & Matt, here's a good idea. Start attacking people for their spelling and grammar. That's a sure fire way to boost your argument and make you look more intellectual whilst making the other person look foolish and pathetic. Also there's no way this can backfire and leave you open for attack.
You should give it a go.........0 -

If you call someone a "Grammar Godwin" would that get the point across without technically proving his rule?0 -

Anyway, back on thread. Will, use a non-bio liquid on a low temp (30 deg wash), with a low spin. At home I set the machine on a delicate or hand wash cycle (30 deg strangely enough). If stuff is really dirty, leave it to soak in cold water or the stains get cooked into the fabric. Just sort out your ordinary washing into darks/whites, low temp (30), higher temp (40) and wash as appropriate unless you've got some particular bit of kit that requires special treatment.
You can put stuff into a dryer but on low temp! but air dry is betterM.Rushton0 -

Will, assuming that you're wanting to wash your bibs after a daily ride ?
Just buy some non bio washing powder, slap a bit (you don't need much for one item) in the sink with some warm (not hot) water, swish about for a couple of minutes, rinse out properly. Done. I don't bother with conditioner when washing my cycling gear, but that's down to habit, as conditioner will break down any water resistant treatments.
If you squeeze most of the water out, and hang them over a chair, they'll be dry in 30mins or so.Science adjusts it’s beliefs based on what’s observed.

Don't worry Will, you are doing okay....
I was posted to Singapore some years back for work with a few colleagues, staying in leased apartments. First weekend there I headed for the shared laundry, to find one our team standing there in front of the washing machine, clueless look on his face, on the mobile phone ringing his wife at home in Australia getting instructions about How To Use The Washing Machine.
He was "only" 42 y/o at the time. Married for 18 years and before that had always lived with his parents. The man admitted he had never done his own washing. Never.

How many other forums give you an entertaining argument, pictures of popcorn and clothes washing tips in the same thread?

Just don't wash things in water that's too hot, Will. Your jeans will shrink...............

Actually that's a good idea! Will, ladies underwear is often required to be on a low temp. wash. Do any ladies you know have items that need washing? Perhaps you could
1. Buddy up and share the wash
2 Offer to wash her/their smalls. This offers opportunities to meet ladies, show how caring you are, floss your teeth with their thongs etc
3. See if they would wash your clothes (be careful, as if they are bit dizzy your kit may end up melted (this is fine if sex is involved)
Re the above pic. Ebony is a very hard wood Strange that hard wood came to mind in looking at thatM.Rushton0 -
Ture Nice touch - now that's what I call comedy
I personally would have thought that if a squabble has come down to bickering about grammar, punctuation and sentence structure that the most important point to check before posting would be your grammar, punctuation and sentence structure. Or at least making sure that you are actually writing in English, not pidgin, and therefore opening yourself up for more ridicule on a public forum.
If you're not involved in the above mentioned same said aforementioned electronic altercation, then please feel free to type the trash I normally do.
Anyway, I've had enough of mocking the afflicted - I'm off for a cup of tea and a nice slice of cake.
Ah - as an aside: turn kit inside out before machine washing? Maybe a small pumice stone or extra neat detergent on skidders if hand washing?0 -

Lycra is damaged by bio powders, and by high temps, or by spinning harsly. The enzymes in wash powder can damage the elastics.
Hence use pure soap / delicates liquid.
CONDITIONER doesn't damage lycra, but it does affect the way that fabrics move moisture. It messes up the fabric's ability to wick effectively, and thus affects performance.
Hence use none.
Some blithering idiots (from posts on threads) run a hot wash before doing their kit to flush out the remaining powder etc. from normal washes. This is just plain OTT and is a stupid waste of energy and water. A tiny bit of bio powder once in a while wont be fatal! And, conditioner can be washed out.

It's a strange fabric. It also doesn;t like sunlight which is why it fades to a transparent brown/black. You can see why Assos give you a bag and advise care with washing.M.Rushton0

Every time I've being washing my stuff with those big Daz value packs for washing, just about 4 tablespoons of that in the draw.0

Lycra is like hair, if you don't wash it for about six weeks the natural oils in it act as a cleanser.0
