Always use a wash bag, and pure soap. Low temp, and a very slow spin.
Never add conditioner!
I've been happily hand washing my cycling gear in the bath since my washing machine died. (As a fringe benefit, it gets your oily fingers really clean.) But I've never had a problem with using fabric conditioner. What's the reason for never using it?0 -

At least I can wash my own clothes, don't have green teeth and don't have to buy meat off the floor of the local Kwick Save because I'm too tight to go to the local butchers.
To paraphrase our last email exchange: you Sir, are a cock of the first order.
I presume you're back in halls because a) you bird binned you for being a skanky tight wad with green teeth and b) you have no friends to move in with? Thought so.
Best get back to your classes at technical college - I think colouring 101 is about to start and you don't want to miss that one. Remember the mantra: inside the lines, inside the lines, inside ………..
Seriously, if this is the standard of common sense and intellect that the youth of today are showing, then we're all doomed. How long does it take to hand wash clothes. I've had two bottles of Lucozade - how is this going to affect my time trial time. Can I get cheap meat. Microwaved Mars bars. For funk's sake ………….0 -

Some people say that fabric conditioner damages the lycra. However I'm yet to have heard personal experience of this happening. It always seems to be "my friend did it once and it ruined his kit"
I either hand wash or if i have washing to do just throw my kit in with normal clothes (washing gels, conditioner and sometimes even stain remover in there) and never had a problem, however I might just be a lucky one!
Conditioner might damage lycra, it might not. It's like the helmet debate - there's no evidence eitherway and it's mostly just personal arguments0 -
Yossie, has will done something personal to you? Sure he comes up with some corkers sometimes and he doesn't always think first before jumping into and argument with his comebacks but that email is a bit touchy!0

Look, just because when you was a kid washing machines were never in households does not mean I am in the same situation, I've never hand washed I've always used a washing machine.

Lycra is damaged by bio powders, and by high temps, or by spinning harsly. The enzymes in wash powder can damage the elastics.
Hence use pure soap / delicates liquid.
CONDITIONER doesn't damage lycra, but it does affect the way that fabrics move moisture. It messes up the fabric's ability to wick effectively, and thus affects performance.
Hence use none.
Some blithering idiots (from posts on threads) run a hot wash before doing their kit to flush out the remaining powder etc. from normal washes. This is just plain OTT and is a stupid waste of energy and water. A tiny bit of bio powder once in a while wont be fatal! And, conditioner can be washed out.0 -

Blimey - not exactly Oscar Wilde are you (just in case you don't know - in words that you may understand - he like wrote books and stuff and was known to be occasionally quite witty. Ask one of your teachers about him).
Yeah - go Will!!! Yeah. Show us your excellent comprehension and use of grammar and make us all ecstatic to see how our taxes are being paid to further your edukashun - I particulary liked just because when you was a kid . Sheesh, if anything, please get your mate to proof read your posts - that way hopefully you won't look the fool you are.
Don't worry mate - I don't think that we will ever meet. I don't tend to hang out at technical colleges/Wetherspoons.
Bio or non bio for lycra anyone? I presume 30 degree wash?0 -
Oh FFS for once in my life I go back on topic.
NON BIO. 30 degree MAXIMUM. That's in a "machine".
Handwash...
NON BIO. Handhot. Wash, rinse, rinse again, dry.
Failing all that, just bung it all in the post and I'll bloody wash it for you.

Well, due to this somewhat out of the blue and completely unwarranted attack on Will, I can only assume that Yossie is lacking in the intellect to converce in a civil manor with others, or he's a complete f*cking idiot. Anyone else got any ideas ? :roll:Science adjusts it’s beliefs based on what’s observed.
