    Anthems do seem disappointingly heavy
Depends what you do to them
(weighed as per manufacturer -without pedals)
    22lb 10oz (22.6lb)

Would of been nearer to 22lb if i'd of got round to doing the brakes, and in the 21lbs if i'd of done all the planned upgrades.

My Top Fuel is 19.7 :-)

The crazy expensive one is fairly light, and they're very nice bikes, but like I said, a load of friends have the Advanced SL1 I think it is (X9, Fox fork, red accents) and they're a whisker under 25 stock, which is a bit of a shame for the money. Not the end of the world though!
  • Had a boring afternoon and early evening so I decided to check the weight of the new one to the old one as i have a pic of the old one minus wheels on my scales:

So the old one was 16.52lbs v the new one weighs 16.82lbs in comparison. Thats with a double upfront instead of a triple and the same pedals etc. This one has a lockout lever on the bars and thats about the only area i can think of that it might be heavier in.

Everything else is in the wheels and tyres. The old setup was 1694g including 160mm disks but nothing else. New setup is aprox 1653g not including disks or and thing.

So are you happy with it, or do you want to make it lighter than the old one?

Hmm not sure, i have my eye on a few new bits, stem from Tune and possibly some different tyres. Undecided on the fox fork as well.

I thought you bought a SID WC, or was that the old one? :?

Don't buy a Tune stem, very unreliable and not that light.

Check out New Ultimate, I used to be the distributor and their kit is really nice. My 100mm stem is 102g, fairly well priced too, and I've not seen any problems. Cheaper in Europe/US than the UK now.

Mt Zoom do really nice light kit for not too much money either. Their bars are a really nice shape, and their skewers are the same weight as KCNC bit with much longer levers, they actually feel like they're clamping your wheels, unlike the KCNCs!
  • I was on the cusp of ordering the SID world cups but i have seen a few reviews where people seem to prefer the fox so decided its better the devil you know!

Will have a look at those New Ultimate parts. Dont think the Mt Zoom skewers will be much if any lighter than my tune ones?

Depends which Tune's you've got, they are lighter than the AC16/17s, but they don't have an internal cam, I'd probably not swap unless the Tune's were worn out.

New Ultimate do very light seatposts too, I've still got a couple to get shot of if you're interested. Think I've got a 30.9 if that's what Anthems take? A 30.9x350mm carbon is 120g.
  • Now sporting a Thomson masterpiece layback seatpost and a fizik gobi braided carbon saddle. Also got a pair of DT240s hubs and crest rims going back to JRA for a once over and nipple change (oooerrrrr) going from red to blue to suit the anthem. Having to have 8 spokes replaced on the drive side of the rear wheel where the chain has dropped and damaged the spokes.

Got the Hope Hoops up for sale.

O the XTR front hose is leaking once again, its a common problem so i am fitting goodridge lines as the shimano ones are shit.
  • Replaced the front hose with the goodridge and everything is as it should be. Pretty pissed off with the quality of the shimano hose ruining a otherwise amazing set of brakes.

Waiting for the DT's to be finished, the front hub has been sent off for a warranty replacement as JRA feel there is something wrong with the bearing alignment as when they put it back together and install the axle and final bearing the movement become very tight. Hopefully it will all be sorted this week.
  • Looks the bomb. Great bike. :)
