How obsessed are you with mountain biking...?

I only ask as the Mrs thinks I'm taking it way to seriously.
I only manage maybe 1 longish ride a week, and/or a couple of short 'before breakfast blasts' a week.
Yes... I buy MTB magazines and keep a huge stack by the bog.
Ok... I can't pass by a cycle shop without looking in.
I only clean the bike after I've ridden it when it's really filthy... or just make sure the mechs/chain are clear.
So go on... just how obsessive are some of you?
Just so's I can show the Mrs I'm 'normal' and not totally OCD about it.

You know it's too obsessive when you start fapping to bikes.
I'm pretty obsessed, at least most of the people in the office think that, as does the o/h.. but meh, it keeps me happy, keeps me quiet and that suits all of them down to the ground!
I talk bike a lot of the day to anyone willing to listen, and spend my working hours on this forum, that's bad enough!0 -
Its too serious when you join a forum!!!4 wheels bad
2 wheels good
1 wheel for fun0 -
its not a problem I can give it up any time."Do not follow where the path may lead, Go instead where there is no path, and Leave a Trail."

I just use the general rule of thumb that if your willing to spend more on a new push iron than your willing to spend on your car your becoming obsessed
By that rule i'm obsessed
I only got back into mtb in september as i was going though a really tough time in my life and needed to take my mind off these things, at first i was just using my Carrera Vulcan which was ok on the trails but once i was hooked i wanted more and more. Since christmas i've spent £2k+ on a full suss, fullface helmet, goggles, hydration pack, Royal riding gear etc etc and i'm always flicking through the different sites/mags looking for my next purchase :oops:What if your dreams and fears existed in the same place? What if to get to heaven, you had to brave hell? What if everything you've ever wanted cost you everything you've ever achieved? Would you still go there?0 -

I am constantly thinking about my bike and much to my other halfs annoyance I now bike spot (when you see someone else riding a bike and name all the components and then tell the nearest person about it in a very detailed way), oh dear I think I might need help :?
chrisGT Zaskar mmmmm yummy!0 -
i'd probably go into some sort of depression if I had to give up MTBing.
Not because I like bikes, but because I like getting out and its a really enjoyable way to do it!0 -

I'm pretty obsessed. All my money goes on bike related stuff. I've got a subscription to MBUK. I always look at what bike somebody is riding. I always look in bike shops when I go past. And when i pass a woods, I always think that there might be some good riding in there. I wish I had mroe money though0

I definately shouldn't be allowed near bike shops.
I tend to go in for a browse, see something new and shiny and immediately think I need one.0 -
Was introduced to a mate's mate as a 'cycling freak' this past weekend. Was quite proud of that one.
Truly arrived on the obessive scene when I started to bring the bike into the kitchen from the garage during the frost when I had a ride or commute the next day. Had to do it late at night when the missus was in bed.0 -
Last year I was driving a nicely tuned Subaru impreza turbo sti, which'd hit 60 in about 4.5seconds.
This year I have a trek remedy 8 and a van that struggles to hit 60mph. Missus got upset today when I mentioned that when we go on holiday, I'd be riding most days. Don't know why, It's not as though I'm taking the bike on our honeymoon. Might be able to rent though0 -
Anyone else feel like riding after reading this thread?0

I own two mountain bikes. Both of which are worth more than my car.
i lived in a ski resort for the whole winter. and the only thing I missed about home was family and Zesty.
My wife refers to the Lapierre as "the french mistress"0 -
Not at all, it seems to involve a lot of driving with bikes strapped to cars.0
