Thanks, and yeh it really flies on so many different types of trail, much more capable than the rider! I don't think I'll be pushing to its limits any time soon.

180's were what CRC had on offer and in stock at the time so I went for them. The frame's capabilities can easily justify that size, but TBH there's no long downhills here in Singapore where I need them at my weight. If I get up to Malaysia there's a few bigger trails there where they'll come in handy, so I don't mind the extra few grams in the meantime,
Bred, thanks mate, the fleegles were just too narrow for a bike like this and for me. Getting the cockpit right makes a huge difference to the fun factor with this bike which is why I'm still fettling (and selling a Thomson stem after only a few rides). For you lucky lads back in the UK I think a 180 at least up front is a must.Carbon 456 http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... t=12754782

Not been completely convinced by the Gusset stem after going back to the 65mm one. Felt less solid than the longer thomson, so I decided to go for this 70mm:
Feels really solid and the machining is top notch. About the same weight as a Thomson but a bargain 35 quid from LBS. Remains to see how long the bolts stay gold but at least they're steel.
Nothing more to do except cut the steerer to final size, couple of cm off the bars and fit the gold crank bolts (on way from Toastedone, thanks mate)Carbon 456 http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... t=12754782

Just testing a WTB Devo saddle. Initial impressions are that there's not quite enough padding and it's on the short side. I'm inclined to switch back to the On-one saddle but will give it a chance on some longer rides first.

Finally close to finished (including the gold chainring bolts, cheers Toastedone), ride on Saturday but was cut short by 2 pinchflats - game over - first was going up the rockgarden in the photo!
Got back out yesterday for a rainy ride and the bike is feeling great. Wheels are holding up very well to punishment from rocks and roots on some bumpy downhill sections. The only changes may be to chop a couple of cm off the bars (the rainforest singletrack here is pretty tight) and a bit of fork adjustment as they felt a little harsh.

Some of these could look pretty good and have practical use...
