Nice wheels.
To post the picture you need to grab the source of the picture online and img it with the button above. I have done a quick go below but you need to go to the share section and that will present you with the code you need. I use Flickr as I find it easier to share the pictures through that but other people may have better ideas.
Glad to see more On-One bikes being built up, the 456 is a lovely frame, you can ride it all day and it never bites back.

Thanks, and really looking forward to getting this built up, I love the look of the frame although many seem not to.
Image edit didn't seem to work for me, trying here with picasa code for embed..

Most of the parts are ready, frame, bars, saddle/post & headset should arrive tomorrow.
Got to travel a bit this week so aiming for first ride next weekend barring any problems. The fork arrived set with only 130mm travel so I'll need to get the spacer out.Carbon 456 http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... t=12754782

Finally the frame! Finish is raw gloss rather than gloss black paint, looks like they just clear coated the carbon. Interesting being able to see the joins around the frame. Will take a couple of days to get it built, can't wait to ride it!

That's exactly what I'm thinking looking at it in the flesh. BB, crankset & front mech are on and look great, taking it to LBS now for headset fitting etc.Carbon 456 http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... t=12754782

Ready to ride before final tweaks. First impressions, the BB height is about an inch higher than my Kona and the headtube is short on the small frame. Not sure yet whether the bars will be wide or high enough for me at 660cm, and the stem is a loan from LBS until I get a feel for the size.
Now Saturday can't come quick enough!Carbon 456 http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... t=12754782

Crappy bathroom scales showing 10kg on the nose. That's about a kilo lighter than my XC bike.Carbon 456 http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... t=12754782

that is a beautiful thing0

Cheers all. Can't wait for the weekend so will take it out for a flat ride tonight to get a feel for the setup and free up the forks a bit.
Scary that I'm already thinking of future changes without having ridden it. But mostly cosmetic, maybe lose the main on-one decals and possibly the rim stickers. I like the white spokes & fork but thinking more black will bring out the gold bits better. Also should replace remaining alu/silver bits with gold (chain, rotor bolts, pedal pins etc), maybe even think about the superstar pedals in gold ano/black pinsCarbon 456 http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... t=12754782

looks awesome, I love those frames and black and gold just works, like the whippet build someone else is doing. I love the downtube on the frame0
-
I'm looking to order the Gloss black myself to replace the steel 456 I have atm. Whats the finish like, would you mind posting so close up pics please?0
-
very nice - did you add the decals yourself - did the come with the bike? or did you buy them seperate?0
-
@booyaka
Yes I did the decals myself (not very well!), as I ordered the stick n mix frame bundle incl on-one handlebars, headset, decals & grips. Its a top value bundle if any of the on-one bars are a good fit for you.
I've now removed the big on-one decals as I think the frame looks better without so much on it (or with the stealth black on black stickers), new pics below.
The bigger decals are also difficult to put on without creases or bubbles, due to the curves in the frame. Maybe heating with a hairdryer could help this. Best finish would be to get them stuck on perfectly then have another layer of clearcoat applied.
@kenan
I think the frame has a good finish although I hadn't seen a raw carbon frame without decals close-up before. As mentioned above, you can see the joins around the frame, but I think that's normal and IMO they have all the important things right - BB shell, headset and dropouts areas all look really beefy. I had no problem fitting the Hive BB and fifteenG crankset.
The owner at my LBS was impressed with the finish & fit for the headtube and the Smoothie headset fitted perfectly. Pics below, excuse the quality, I'll get some more when I get some daylight at the weekend.
Note the biketape over bottom of decal makes it look a bit odd
Thoughts on the frame so far, am glad I got the small (16 frame), as the cockpit length with 70mm stem feels about right for me (I'm 5'10"). The 18 frame has a longer TT than my Kula, although this would give the option of running a super short stem <50mmCarbon 456 http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... t=12754782

cheers for the answers - looks very nice.
My order is probably going in this weekend for one!!
Very nice setup!0 -
Very nice indeed, On-One seem to be producing some nice frames these days!0
-
Thanks for the info.
Mine is now in my garage
The paint is real hard to explain but the weight of the frame shocked me it seems to light. lso the feel of the frame is weird as it's not cold to the touch.0 -
First ride was only a bit muddy, some slick stones & roots. Very impressed with the Onza tyres, back one in particular hooked up much better than Crossmark on slippery climbs.

Hey nice build! Quick question how do you mount the rear Derailleur ? haven't looked into it to much just the dropouts on the 456 dont seem to be threaded??0
-
Looks like its a metal billet mounted for the hanger.
Look at his pictures.0 -
Yes the dropouts are thick solid pieces of aluminium. The right one has the derailleur hanger, must be normal threaded since the XT rear mech fits straight on. The left one has the IS brake mounts.
The only difference on this to my previous bikes is that the hanger would never bend, it's too thick. Guess this means the rear mech will bend/break in the event it gets hit.
I know you can get breakaway bolts, but I'm not sure if the bolt that came with the XT r/d is this type, anyone know this?Carbon 456 http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... t=12754782

i quite liked that massive on one decal actually, still looks awesome though0
-
OK finally settled on a Gusset Staff stem 70mm
Have it on order, should match the frame perfectly and half the price of a Thomson. Just need to find some black bolts - not so easy here in Singapore where there's no DIY shops! Glad the best match also allowed me to buy British
Will post final pics when the stem and last of the gold bolts are fitted next week.Carbon 456 http://www.bikeradar.com/forums/viewtop ... t=12754782
