Wow picking up on people's capitalisation and apostrophe usage. The last stand of the desperate and pathetic

I always thought the last stand of the desperate and pathetic was bowing down to Godwin's Law?

  • i dont know how to win an argument i started (for no actual reason)against a superior intellect, i therefore concede.

fair enough, i will also say no more on the matter seeing as i have won the argument you started.

Very generous of you and I give in, especially as you've got Gog on your side. Just going down the tip to scrap my retro bikes.

i wouldnt do that, you will need a reliable bike which always works when your modern bike has a broken component on it.

why do old bikes seem to run and run?

Because they're never ridden hard enough. Mind you, I broke lots of things on my old Marin, and snapped almost every frame I had before it.

this thread really needs that video clip of the old rigids being ridden down a field and failing to make a simple looking turn at the bottom. the good old days of "downhll" racing.
  • "the fact you are getting so upset that you havent had the mental capacity to enlighten me in the slightest only proves how legendary i am as you come, one after another to try and tell me how good you are at riding bikes in the hope i will finally agree and count you as equal."

point proven about the aggressive attitude i think. Plus you think all people who made bikes in the 80's and 90's were hippies? Strange assumption. As for being upset i am not at all upset with you i am having a really relaxing chilled out day but yeehaamcgee get back under the stairs you numbskull, ur a tosspot. Seriously you are though  and are obviously someone who cannot accept that different people like different things. Riding rigid with next to no brakes is a challenge as much as riding down the same hill around 15mph faster on your full bounce bike. Just because you can do it faster that doesnt mean its not as hard or you cant get the same thrill as having to fight to keep control of your bike to make it round that corner at the bottom. Sure i can barrel it down a trail on my 5" bike and enjoy it but i can also get xtra satisfaction from going down on my rigid SS and keeping it nailed round that corner and up past you on that climb whilst ur blowing out yer erse lugging that beast up in your granny ring    get it right up ye!
  • this just proves how passionate we are about cycling which i think is great

    Pretty much, yeah.
But that's not the point. The point is that it appears that only real ale quaffing hippies ride them these days.
ur a tosspot. Seriously you are though
^^I think that proves Sheep's point about all you hippies being on the offensive.

Generalisations are lazy and almost always meaningless and add nothing to an argument. For example I would never say that most people in Worth Nails ride these bikes:

So by stepping up and denying that you drink real ale, you've just admitted to being a hippy. Well done.
Come into my parlour, said the spider to the fly!

No honest I think it's refreshing to see so many keyboard warriors stating that world champions of the past who rode on hardtails didn't know what they were doing and thier bikes were crap and unfit for purpose.

You learn something new everyday. A very informative thread
